The truck stalled out on me while I was driving, almost like it ran out of gas. I could not restart it. I double checked the oil level as I have heard these trucks have a very sensitive low oil cutoff.

I had it towed to my mechanic and he is not getting power to the coil. Since he can't get a coil from the local parts store, he is just guessing that is the problem.

Can anyone provide me with any info on what else I should check? Or do you know if a similar coil can be purchased locally?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Your mechanic should be able to test the coil. If there is no power to the coil of course it wouldn't work. It sounds more like to me like a fuse or relay off the ignition switch. Could be points as well if there is power to the coil.

It is most likely the electronic power pack. I am not sure off the top of my head where it is on a Mitsubishi, but we just did a Honda with the exactly same symptoms and it was mounted on the side of the distributor. We replaced both the coil and the electronic pack and ran perfect. You can probably find the parts from some of the suppliers on this board.

I have a service manual for a 550 u15d . I can send you the pdf of the engine electrical chapter if you like. i just scanned it for someone else and i think it gave him enough info to get his running.

I've just been pulling out the info from the manuals as i go. I can't find the ambition to feed hundreds of pages to my scanner. I'll be happy to send the pages that you need.
