It is pretty much impossible to find a set of rims to fit a hijet so I got some 4x100 wheel adapters. got a set of 175x70x14's, the ride is much better now. I am wanting a set of atv tires for off road when I take the truck to deer camp. as it stands right now I would have to take the wheel adapters off to swap from street tires to off road tires. I either need some 14 inch rims in a 4x110 pattern for my street tires or a set of 12 inch rims in a 4x100 pattern for my atv tires. I can get some 14" atv rims but they are kind of expensive and may be a little wide for my street tires. not wanting to spend a lot of money. anybody have any suggestions?

    sprints and festivas are 4x114.7
    i have a pair of RX7 4 x110 13 in rims on the back

and a pair of ford escort 4x108 13 inch rims on the front

they were all free from different friends

get a set of spacers with 5 bolt pattern and get 2 pair of used lawn tractor rear rims....6-8 inch wide tires stock are 23x8.5x12 on the ones i got...for a different project
i'm going to either drill 4 x114.7 setup or weld metro rim centers into the tractor rims

I found that link a few days ago. it still does not help. there is not any 12 inch 4x100mm atv rims listed. you can get some 14 inch atv rims with the 4x110 mm pattern for my street tires, but they are about 90 or so bucks a piece. i have a decent set of atv 4x110 rims but don't like the idea of taking the wheel adapters on and off just to change from street to atv tires.
I have been on the look out for some 12 inch rims for the small cars with the 4x100 mm pattern but no luck yet. still not sure if my atv tires would fit on those narrow rims. actually I gotta get some atv tires also, my 25 inch atv tires won't fit without rubbing. don't really want to lift the truck any more as I drive it on the road a good bit. my mini truck budget is pretty much on the mini side right now, further upgrades may have to wait.

So just do what I did and get DOT Certified ATV tires. Best of both worlds although it's loud as hell on the highway!

dot certified atv tires had crossed my mind. I have a 50 mile round trip ride for the hunting club, not sure if the tires would hold up running them on the highway in the summer. are you running them on atv rims or car rims? do they seem to have that spongy feeling on the road?
with summer time here I can get around the hunting club pretty good with my street tires. I may put a few miles on them for now. come winter time I may leave the truck at the hunting club so atv tires would be great then.

I'm running them on ATV rims. I have EFX Blades, they're radials so they aren't as spongy as normal ATV tires are but they are certainly not as solid as a car tire. Of course they're also 10" wide, the truck is lifted close to 3" and I haven't had it professionally aligned so it's a little off anyway... and I beat on it offroad so even if I had gotten it aligned it'd probably be off by now anyway lol.

They are pretty low profile too. That's a load of I think 120 fence posts and they aren't compressing very much even though the truck is squatting. I have some of those silicone balancing beads that I keep meaning to put in the tires in order to try and get some of the shake out of them because ATV tires deform at higher speeds and make for a slightly unbalanced ride. I've been driving it all over the place for 6 months with them though and they're holding up pretty well.

    Tire search may be over

In my quest to find the perfect tire for my 92 Hijet I believe I now have the answer. Just ordered a set of Greenball Afterburn Streetforce 25x8R12 tires. They are DOT certified and a 57N rating. ( 504 lbs per tire with a speed rating of 87 mph) Running Carlisle All Trails now, I travel a lot of gravel roads and have smashed a couple of mirrors and caught up to a few rocks that have been a near miss for the windshield. I also travel on pavement and don't desire to have my teeth shook out by an aggressive quad tire. Looks like a good blend of floatation, ride, tread pattern and load capacity while being DOT approved.

They look cool, but not very trail oriented... and 25" is going to make it hard to fit under your truck, although if I could fit 24" tires you'll get it! Why not just get car tires though if you do most of your driving on road? Good find though, post pics when you get them installed :)

I think they will perform quite well off road. Short of mud bogging these trucks will climb a mountain with street tires. I have never been in a situation yet where the All Trails I run now have not been more than adequate. I run a 2 & 1/2" lift and there is room for 25inch tire. I do a lot of off road driving so the floatation and smoother ride are important. I agree that an upgraded car tire is the answer if you are only on the road. I think they are the best I have come across yet for a dual purpose application. Should have them on in a week and I will let you know how they work.

They're a radial right? I'm asking because mine are radials and they don't absorb nearly the amount of shock a bias ply tire would off road but they sure as hell handle a ton better on the road. I think you're going to have a lot taller sidewall too which should help with smoothing out the ride...

I'm interested to see how it shakes out for you, make sure to keep us posted! :)

    They are a radial but I believe they only available in a 25/8R 12 or a 25/10 R 12

you sure you are looking at the right tire. the dot streetforce afterburn tire does not look like an offroad tire to me. closer to a street racer type.

the afterburn atv tire should perform very good offroad but I don't think it is dot approved.

let us know how they perform offroad

You are correct, the streetforce has a tread pattern designed for road use and is DOT approved. The lower pic is the garden variety atv tire. For my purposes a std atv tire normally is not DOT approved, load rated or have a very good tread life when used on hard surfaces. Therefore there has to be a trade off when needing a dual purpose tire. The weak link here yes is going to traction in mud, snow etc. I will be a lot smarter in a week or so when I get them on. Here is another one for the round table. Just put a set of Vision VX 21x10.5 x 12 on a Honda Acty. Like these as well. DOT approved, 750lb per tire rating excellent floatation, don't throw gravel, quiet on the road. But because they are designed for the golf cart market they are only rated for 30 mph.

What's the point if they're only rated to 30 mph? If they had a better speed rating they'd be a good compromise I'd say.

Agreed, this truck is only used for short trips in one area so getting there fast is not an issue.

I really like the look of the Greenball Afterburn Streetforce tire. I am currently running Carlisle All Trails (23x8x12 front and 23x10x12 rear). My question is; if I put the 25x8x12 tires on my Hijet, am I going to be giving up gas mileage, or power because I am running a taller tire?? My Hijet has been lifted so I think the taller tire will fit ok, but I am reluctant to buy and install them if it cost me too much performance

what kind of offset do you have on your aftermarket rims? I think my factory ones are 5inch wide rims - 4inch on inside, 1inch on outside. I want to put 7inch wide rims on my truck and not sure how to space them without rubbing on the inside.
