    Hey guys,

Just wanted to throw up some quick pics of my tint job on the mini I had done Friday.

Kentucky allows 5% on the rear window and 10% on the sides. I went with 15% all the way around. Helps the interior and helps the AC as well.

I've done some tinting before, but for $75 I can let the pros do it much quicker than me and get a lifetime warranty.

One side note - I obviously had to remove the headrests in order to tint the rear. My headrests are mounted with a bolt at the top and two phillips screws at the bottom. I fooled with the bottom screws for a few minutes and could not budge any of them at all. I took a 3/8" butterfly impact with a #3 phillips bit and made short work of them! All 4 lower screws had some kind of blue thread locker on them - don't know why, but they were TIGHT!. Crazy it took an air tool to remove the headrests. A wire wheel and a drop of anti-sieze later, the bolts were ready to go back in.

Agree the tint looks good....I found my headrest screws were a bitch as well...like you I used an impact driver to get em off....you'd think they were structural they are so solidly attached:p

Funny that we all seem to be doing the same jobs, at one time or another.

I broke one "hardened" driver trying to get the 4point mouning apart on my Suzuki. Then I used one of those "hammer-punch" type drivers to get the backing screew-head bolts out of the head rests.

I wanted to not only move the head rest UP, so that it would line up with my head and not my neck, but I also wanted to put speakers inside of them...

    but that's for another thread..

I wish our tint laws down here allowed for ours to be that dark. Legal limit here is 28%, which might as well be clear. Having dark windows like myself makes it a bit of a pain to get an inspection sticker.

consider yourself lucky. In TN the limit is 35%

Wow! 35%? You might as well not even have it on there huh? I consider myself pretty lucky anyway. They only ones here that can enforce the tint law are MS highway patrol. They stick to the highway and interstate, so i stick to the back roads. As long as i don't lose my source for an inspection sticker, i'm good to go.

Yeah... I broke this law once. well... make that twice... It cost twice as much to have tint removed than to have it put on. As a matter of fact a few months ago I got stopped and questioned about the tint on my Tahoe. I kindly responded with "No, I've never had any problems in the past. Its the smoked glass that comes from the factory". My front windows aren't even tinted! Sheesh.
