Does anyone know if I would be able to replace my 660cc F6A with an 800cc Suzuki 3 cyl.? I have a line on a new engine and am wondering about the possibilities. Anyone with any experience with that type of swap?

The 800CC was available in markets other than Japan. It is possible that it is an easy install, but havent seen one myself.

Looks like my P.O.S. is going to be needing a new engine. Over all this has got to be the worst purchase I have ever made.

I've found that no one coud answer my question wether or not the transmission and accessories would bolt up to the 800cc or 1000cc. However, it does seem likely that they should. I've sourced the 800 and 1000cc engines new from China, but, I haven't tried it out, mine is working fine still, thank god!

Sask I await this build with great anticipation, if this is a relatively "easy" conversion I'm sure you won't be the last member to carry it out. Keep us up on the progress please, I'd love to have a couple more ponies in my little truck and this just might be the answer we are all looking for.

You have to be cautious though. Some of those chinese 800CC engines have the same power or less than the 660. I have seen some 800CC rated at under40hp

    who knew?

I hope MB is wrong in the hp rating, tho I must defer to his superior knowledge and experience in the mini world  .

yeah, went to china a couple times. There certainly are more powerful units, but was shocked at some!

Of course you can build the f6a to over 120 hp with about $9000

    Haha. Just googled 800cc HP.

Apparently there are 800CC HP breast implants. Great stuff.

In fact there are close to equal numbers of listings talking about 800CC engines and 800CC implants.

    I love the interweb.

I've had long term coolant circ problems with this engine. Started treatment with replacing the thermostat last winter. The original one in the "reconditioned" engine was bent out of shape and was allowing flow full-time. There was excessive noise from the engine since time of purchase, which i thought was valve rattle at the time. I has more recently been diagnosed as piston slap. Then, I had increasing circ. problems which led to having the head gasket replaced. The head was checked out (lots of cavitation) and planed at Hackl's in Prince Albert. I thought the issue was solved but within 100 kms of use, my engine is pumping air into my coolant system again. That's definite. Every possible test has been done and it's not a simple air lock. I have to cut my losses and replace this lemon of an engine. That loud piston slap was only making me hate driving the POS anyway and it can only be leading to engine failure also. The best option might be just leaving it on the road with the keys in it. At least it would stop costing me money.

The 800cc I was looking at only puts out 36 hp so that's a no go. Used 660 Suzuki: $1400 installed and no guarantee that it's any better than what I have now.

  14. The easiest upgrade for the F6A is to put K6A rotating assembly (pistons/rods) in it and there you have 745cc engine! Forget the Chinese junk, they made those 800cc engines under license but nothing really bolts up. You could also buy an old Db71T turbo Suzuki engine; add a 21 to 25 mil Jimny turbo and gain 38hp.

    Cheers,
    Don

800cc engine made in China? OMG, i wouldn't buy that ummm... say piece of clay.

turbo is better choice, but still can play around head and inlet pipes to get more HP

Thanks for the input but let's try getting back on track here.I'm not looking for more hp, I'm just looking for an engine that works. The 800cc inquiry was just an option for an affordable engine that would fit, nothing more. The idea has already been tossed out.

I've got prices on both a used and a complete rebuild from a dealer in Prince Albert. I still haven't decided which way to go.

IMO choose used one with compression report. you never know, what sort of "boys" rebuilt engine. maybe they did it on monday :D
BTW how much both deals? you can send me PM

Precise engines in Saskatoon is a very reputable machine shop. Not cheap mind you.

If you trust the guys doing the rebuild or can do it yourself, I always go that way. I've had it up to my ears with "good used engines". They always "ran great when pulled" and when I install them, smoke everywhere!

just dont go to Abdula&Ahmed garage and you never will heard the story "worked well before pulled out..." also if used engine looks freshly washed that is the bad sign - someone tried to hide leaks. i dont know about you guys and what sort of junk you dealing with, but i have chance to choose "beating heart". and ummm what is the point to transplant engine if its under 300000km? :D

lol find some gear head and show him the baby motor and he will fall in love and rebuild it for you just to find out how she ticks :D

I was thinking of puttting in a Arctic Cat T660 motor it is fuel injected and turbo charged
    with 110 hp.
I have the snowmobile that model and it works great looking for another to try this

I'd let someone else try that idea first too. There could be some major problems in getting that 110 hp to the ground, as in whether the clutch, tranny and diffs could handle the hp and the torque. Just because you have the power up front doesn't mean you'll be able to bring it to the back. It would be very interesting to see if it can work tho.

So, basically what the thing is, is that the hp limits on production for all kei class went up over time.
The F8b is an older developed engine and has a lower hp rating. (the F5a is even worse) It has bigger cc with high torque at lower rpm, but a lower max hp than your F6a. It can be built up with some shaving and aftermarket parts, but will cost big bucks.
The F6a has the higher compression and better tuning, less exhaust restriction. Anyone that has looked into F6a specs will have noticed the differences in the quoting of both HP and compression ratings. 8.2, 8.3, 9.5. 10.0, 10.1, 10.5.
And, HP as well. My F6a at 10.5to1, I have found quoted at 47KW...plus 7psi boost @6000+RPM...figure it out.

If you have to replace the engine anyway, I'd go with the NEWEST model of F6a. The DOHC EFI.
After you have that figured out, you now have the best base for tuning, including the K6a internals, porting, boosting, additional fuel rail, and custom exhaust. You'll end up with more hp than you can use.

    Cheaper option better outcome.
