    Hi everyone.

I'm attempting to remove the instrument cluster in my 1991 Mighty Mits to get at an alarm module (to solve my starting problem - see other thread). I've got the cluster hood off and the cluster screws out but it seems to be held in by the speedo cable and there must be an electrical cable back there too. Has anyone removed this before? Can anyone tell me how to blindly disconnect these things? Anyone have a pictire of the back of the instrument cluster?

    Thanks in advance.

Ive done a few Suz. And yes it helps to have have midget hands. You have to get the dash out far enough to get your hands or a pair of needle nose and grab the speedo cable and pull that suck out. It helps to have some adult beverages before this task.
It will come out. The tricky part is getting it back in. This task requires some more adult beverages and chasing it with some MAD DOG 40/40.

2 ears on the sides of thespeedo cable...squeeze them together and pull it out..the electrical connectors (2 I think) have a push clip on them as well

    groping under the dash...

    Thanks guys.

After playing contorsionist I was able to wiggle my left hand up under the dash and grab the speedo cable. The using very special 4 letter magic words I twisted, pulled and finally squeezed and pulled and the sucker came out. I could then pull the cluster far enough forward to disconnect the two electrical connectors.

Here's some photos for the next guy...now back to my original starting problem...I have no idea how easy/hard it will be to reconnect the speedo but it looks like it will just push in till it clicks - assuming I can find the connector while groping under the dash again.
