    Daihatsu S83p starter

Hello everyone! I'm trying to find a starter for my daihatsu s83p. I ordered one online but it was the wrong one. Can anyone provide me some guidance or part number. The one I'm looking for has a longer "nose" than the one received from my Internet order. Any info would be greatly appreciated......

easiest to get yours rebuilt...any starter/alternator rebuilder can do it,and you know it will fit which is a bonus

I have the same problem, need a starter for a 1993 jumbo.

The easiest thing isn't so easy. I bought the truck at auction. Between the time of bidding and delivery, someone needed the starter and the radiator more than I did.

Any suggestions, would be welcomed. Are there other models, or vehicles with the same parts I can use to go to the local junk yard and trade in to the truck?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nemo

    Fupabox,

    Thanks for the information.
I've put in the order. Now on to a radiator.
A mechanic told me to find an old Civic radiator, that it would do just fine.
    Does that sound likely?

Thanks again for all the help.

it all depends on measurements and capacity...I'm stuck at work tonite and can't measure for you, maybe someone else can,or knows the size...I would suspect maybe a sprint/Geo-metro might be a closer size...check the sponsors maybe someone has a rad in stock

    Fupabox,

    Thanks again.
I have been shopping for something used. But my age is starting to show.

About two weeks ago I came onto a website that had a whole bunch of recycles for I believe $85.00/unit. As I recall the entry it said that they hadn't been pressure tested and were to sell as is.
But having just learned I needed them, I was still shopping at that time, not sure what a good price would be.
Now comes the age part. I can't find the site again!
I went into the history section of the computer, but that's like untangling the twine in a softball which has no cover.
Any way I'm still trolling the web to see if I can stumble on it again.

    Thanks,
    Nemo

I posted pictures of the radiator off my 93 Jumbo, with measurements in my photo album. I looked at some radiators from a Geo 3cylinder that I was going to use as a back-up, but the wrecking yard was smoking something on their price.

As far as the starter....I got a starter for a 1990 Daihatsu Charade, non gear reduction, and it mounts fine, but the clocking of the starter solenoid is about 100deg off from the original. The solenoid hangs below the starter, versus the original which piggy-backed the starter. Napa #17152 or 17182. I had my original repaired with a nose bushing install, and returned the Charade starter. The original and aftermarket starters have the same specs.

Check out a Austin mini radiator. They are 14.5 tall and 10.5 wide approx. Civic half radiator is probably too tall for you at about 16.5. Looks like you need something in the neighborhood of 12 tall and 16 wide if I recall correctly. I've searched for some small radiators and came up empty. Might look at some rhino/rzr radiators but they are costly...

Check your fuses under dash 5, 10, 15, 20 amp's(steering wheel) and under seat you should find a couple of larger ones. Havnt really noticed any trucks having a fusible link but you might look around and if it has one see if its burned up.

    Fusible link addendum

    On the right hand side.
Under the seat, just behind where your knees would be.

Its a pretty standard item. I picked sum up at Pep Boys.
    About $6.00 a pop.

I wrote it up sumware else on the cite.

    thanks

    Fuse

That was it, the fuse under the driver seat - 50AMP fuse was bad... replaced it and it started right up...

now, it only lasted about 1 or 2 minutes on and the turn off and now I can't get it to start again... it seems as no fuel gets to the carburetor...

How can i check it... checked the fuel filter and it is ok.... could it be the fuel pump... how not....

    thanks,
    Luis

I would first check that fuse again. Check the fuses under dash.
If you have a older Daihatsu you have a fuel pump bolted behind # 1 cyl. Pull the fuel line coming off fuel pump and going to carb. and turn engine over. Should have a med. stream of fuel.
If you have a newer EFI model remove fuel line right before fuel rail and turn ignition to the on position. Should have about 2 sec. of fuel coming out of it then it will shut off. If engine starts the fuel will continue running out the line.
Helps to have one looking and one turning on the ignition.
