Ok I've searched every post... anyone know the proper size fanbelt for a 91 MMC 660cc?
The one that came with mine seems too narrow, squeals like a pig whenever it rains and there's no more adjustment left.

Also I'm wondering what goodies Cdn Tire has for mini-trucks (wheels, rims, etc) they laughed me out of our local Kal Tire (Twelve inch tires? Twelve? You gonna carry them home in your old lady's GREEN SHOPPING BAG??):D

    1. Check out rims. Go to a 13" rim, tires are plentiful and you may find a stock rim at a wrecker (pick and pull here is $20 with tire). A local tire dealer laughed at my truck untill I drove by on a set of 15" low profiles from their competitor next door.
If you do go to a larger rim, keep the 12", they make a good base for putting on quad tires for true off roading!

    2. Pull the belt and bring it in to NAPA, Bumper to Bumper etc. They have a belt measuring tool. Go to a wider belt first, then try shorter.

    3. Read, read, read! We have quite a few knowledgeable people here and quite a few ideas (good and not so good, you be the judge!).

    Welcome to the show!

    Hi BC_MMC.
Welcome to the world of mini trucks. I'm sure that it will work out well for you.
I have purchased the following at Canadian Tire for my truck so far since January.

Aluminum Tool Box - Delta Model 221000 $280.00
    Set of 4 145 80R12" M&S tires - Goodyear Nordic - $225.00 Installed, balanced etc.
    Magnetic Block Heater - $55.00
    Heated Seat Cushion - $10.00

I ended up with an Equus Tach from Walmart for $83.00.

Enjoy your mini and ignore those who snicker:p. They are great little work trucks!

There's one around with 14" wheels looks like off an old Nova SS. Another guy here says it looks like mine would take his old 14" Mustang wire-spoke rims after I get my 2" lift in. I'd have to go really low profile tires with 14".
What sort of handling changes should I expect when it's lifted?
Mine came with brand new 12" aluminum rims and tires, but jeez the potholes around here are murder on a 12" wheel.

No luck on the fan belt. Can't read anything on it & know it wasn't the right one in the first place. Guess I'll take her into the local garage and let the mechanic take a guess.

for the fan belt you can set the alternator nearly the closest position in the adjustment bracket then take a piece of string (shoe lace or yarn or whatever you have) and make it the right length to ride in the pulleys. then measure the width of the pulley.

metric belts are typicaly length X width. it will be something like 12 x 930. this will not be your measurement, but an example. once you have the length and the width they should be able to get you in the ball park. just let them know you might bring it back for an exchange.

the reason i recommend that you keep it just shy of the closest adjustment is that you are measuring the lowest mounting point of the pulleys. a belt normally doesn't ride that deep in the pulleys. if you go with this theory the belt will be on the tight side but will have some room to adjust it out as it begins to wear.

one thing i normally do is use some "belt dressing" on the pulley and belt. it makes everything a littel bit tacky and will keep the belt from slipping and wearing permaturely.

Well here's a bonus to minitruck ownership: stopped at our local garage with my squeaker and the entire staff dropped what they were doing. All three were over, under and had the seats out within 2 minutes.
The owner took one look and said I need a 12mm, that looks like a 9... the kids scrambled to the rack and blew the dust off a 12mm x 30" belt and they had it in and fixed in a flash.
No more squeaks, no more rattles! The belt rides near the top of the pulley, and I have a fair bit of adjustment room raising the alternator.
And they were impressed by the build. It's a real truck, not some slapped together toy! They want to do any future work on it.

THATS WHAT IAM TALKING ABOUT. I got a guy here in Austin that loves to work on these trucks. Gives him a chance to work on something different he says. His only problem is that he doesnt get that much service work out of me because very rarely anything goes wrong. My guy said they are so simple he wishes everything was like this. I dropped off a Suz. a while back at 9am for a clutch replacement(I supplied the parts) and he called me at 11:30am to come pick it up. He said "man that was easy" bring me some more. Thankfully thats the only major thing he has done other than a few cv boots on a couple of different trucks.

    Fan Belt for Mits U42T

The Gates 4L300W (12.5 X 760mm) crosses to a CarQuest RBR 6830. On my 1993 Mits U42T the belt was kinda tight, but after it was on there was a bit of tightening room left. The original belt was MD 813653, marked Mitsubishi. Bill
