Wow this thread is ollllldddddddddd. I still remember waiting to see if it would pass last time it was up. For anyone who wants to know there is a new bill for indiana. House bill 1047 someone is still trying to pass mini trucks for legal road use. No interstates but who cares about that. Sorry for opening up an old thread but figured I'd put it out there if anyone else wants to watch and see if it passes

For anyone who is interested small update on bill 1047 in indiana. It was up to be read for the second time in the house today. Found something that said it was ordered to me engrossed. With my very little understanding of the hops laws have to jump throu to come about I googled it. My understand was that has to happen before the 3rd reading. It's scheduled for the third reading on the 22 if all goes well it's off to the indiana senate for the same steps.

That is way cool. Here in Michigan Gung Ho Trucks are importing brand new trucks and can plate them for road use, but have speed limiters on them. I am ready for a brand new truck for the street, but not if I can only go 25 MPH. Sure would be nice if they could get that speed limiter removed.

Yea to bad it's with a limiter that sucks

Tiny update. Still haven't been able to find a way into seeing what day it will be read in the senate but did see where there was an indiana senate member now supporting it by the name of yoder so that's a plus.

I'll keep looking to see if anything is updated over this next week.

Ok so a small update finially the senate read the bill for the first time today or I believe they did they had referred it to homeland security and transportation. Some how they dated it as tomorrow guess just a small miss type but it's least another step closer

Good luck with getting it passed in Indiana. If anyone has tips on successfully lobbying for legislation in their state, I'd love to hear them. Vermont has no laws for Mini-trucks... I'm GUESSING that means you could drive them on town roads for "farm business" without a license, and with a slow-moving-vehicle triangle on it (like what farmers do for tractors, hay wagons and ATVs), but don't know that for a fact.

I'd love to see us get something passed that allows us to operate it on some roads (40 MPH or less would be a great start... that wouldn't bar a whole lot other than the interstates and a couple of larger roads around here). Something higher than 25 MPH would be great. I could talk to our the legislators in my area about it, but it would be great to have some info on what has been successful in other areas, and maybe some data showing how these trucks are designed for higher speeds that the "low speed vehicles" allowed in some states.

Do you have any info on the bill as it now exists? I'm doing a bit of pushing here in Vermont, trying to lay some groundwork. I'd also love to hear from anyone who has met with success in lobbying their state legislature (or at least has made some progress). I'm hoping I might pick up some tips and good talking points.

in you google (indiana house bill 1047 2015) only useing the year to make sure it bring up the correct one for you you can print out the lastest draft of it i use iga.in.gov site for that also if you use the gov site u just type in 1047 on their search spot and u will find it. its about 6 pages worth of this code blah blah blah changes to this and that code gets changed to that. main thing is it might come in handy for one to show their sate legislature how another state has worded it.

if i remember right it has been brought up every year but one since 2009 but it looks good to pass this time around april the 15 yesterday it was read for the 3rd time in the senate and voted on 50 yea 0 no and passed the senate. now this part is where im unsure as to what happens next in my state. i believe beings there was admendments in the senate to the bill it gets sent back to the house of reps. to look over the small changes voted on and then sent to the gov to be signed, veto, or unsigned for so many days at which it them comes law after the waiting period to be signed.
hope that helps you out with the info you wanted

I am a Deputy and was at a legal update Wednesday. The mini-truck law goes into effect July 1, 2015. You must have a license, a plate, and insurance. I'm working on getting a title/plates for mine.

Now that they are street legal or soon will be, does anyone know where any trucks for sale are around Indiana. I know there is a dealer around jeffersonville but can't find anything else online.
