Well I have finished my 1996 Carry Fire/Rescue truck build and thought I would show some pictures and info on it. It has been a long project and I have spent WAY TOO MUCH $ ...as allot of you here can relate to. Hear is a list of what I have done..... Front push bar powder coated with HID lights as well as a winch, new 275lbs springs as well as a 2in. lift in the rear only. Rear bumper powder coated black and a hidden tow hitch receiver behind the fold up license plate, 2in ball and hook with extension to clear the bumper, Full bed roll cage powder coated black with roll down canvas to close it all up if needed, Line-X spray in bed liner, side and back-up spot lights that come on when I put the truck in reverse or by dash switch, cable tail gate straps on all three sides that keep the gates flat when open, LED curtsy lights on over head bars in bed to light up the area when the doors open up or by switch, fire extinguisher and fire axe attached to side bars, ammo boxes on each side of truck for tools and survival gear, as well as two shovels, two spare wheel/tires mounted in bed as well as a race-trim seat with Crowe 5-point harness’s, LED red, white, blue Whip for the Dunes, GPS chart plotter so I don't get lost, new stereo with I-pod hook-up, new speakers behind seat in bed and doors, LED dash lights for the climate controll, dash switches to control all the lights. Well that should just about cover it. I have more photos in my album
Thanks for the kind words. Yes it was a labor of love and the wife was very patient with me ..She saw a Mitsubishi mini that had been done very similar to this for a local fireman and wanted to buy it. But in all my stupidity I thought I could build one that was nicer for less $....boy was I wrong!!! This has taken almost two years and about eight months of that was fighting with AZ. to get it licensed for the road as well as off-road :frustration:. Now that it is done I look forward to using it.
fire/rescue Nice job! They do get expensive ... where do you stop and say that's enough? I've been through it. dan
Forever Still have the original prototype box truck. Sold 3 of the reg. trucks but quite not as tweaked out.
Wonderful looking trucks guys - like the rescue approach/upgrades. Wish some of ya were closer and/or I had more income - so much I'd like to do to mine. But I'm just lucky to have gotten into one.
I like what you have done and would love to put tracks on mine but at some point you have to just step away and say enough is enough
Is it wrong to be slightly "aroused" when looking at truck pictures ?? seriously..this is mechanical porn...or do I need some kind of therapy?:sly:
Fire/Rescue There are 8x25x12" run flat tires available ... aggressive tire at about $125.00 ea. Also 1/16" diamond plate sheared into 2 3/4 inch strips is a cheap dress-up. You can get vinyl diamond plate cheaper yet!
Greg, It was not nearly as involved as what you are doing with yours, I have been watching your build with amazement. But thanks
Wow. Fantastic job man, that truck is amazing. I'm forwarding the pics on to a friend in our local volunteer FD who wants to build a rural rescue vehicle...
I would give more than two thumbs up if I had more so...two big toes up as well!!! That is a nice rig!!
Great looking truck, now I want to hear some rescue stories.... Oh BTW is it getting a siren and flashing lights?
