Anyone thinking about putting a plow on a Subaru pay attention. If you have access to materials and can or know someone who can weld it can be done. Heres what i did...

I figured that the front rebar where the factory mount for the 2" was not up to the task of supporting a plow assembly so i beafed it up. I used a 90deg 1/4"plate approx 35" long, 5"ID tall and 2"ID lip. I drilled holes to match the ones on the provided hitch i bought(no longer available). I then had it welded to the plate. I had to drill the holes on the top of the rebar as the factory only drills the bottom. I had the eye hook and cowl tab cut off. I bolted the ass'y on and measured where to cut the plate where the main chassis rails attach to the front rebar. Notched them out, re bolted the ass'y on. Had the 2 corners welded on and it was done. Sprayed it with paint and at a later date sprayed it with rust check. Mounted the plow etc and it was done.

No i didnt :( I wanted to start my own Lawn and snow company this year and was ready to go. With a plow on your vehicle you have to get commercial general liability on top of reg auto and business ins. I was quoted $480/mth which was a bit steep but i thought i would try it. So i quit my day job giving them my 2 weeks notice(worked there for 9.5 yrs). Second last day my broker calls me and says the ins co is asking for proof of experience with a plow. I had told him i worked off the books part time about 5 yrs ago and did it for approx 4 yrs but i could not prove i did it. My new quote was $700/mth so i told them never mind i could earn no money staying at home. So now im at home looking after my 1.5 yr old for the winter and hopefully if i still have the truck and get ins i will try to comtinue with lawns. I will probably try it on my own driveway this winter if it doesnt sell.

Boy, if I had to guess I would say that they were 14" BBS-style off of a 80's era Mk1 or Mk2 VW Golf/Jetta.

Very close, they are Ronal R16's no longer available and very hard to find. They are 14x6 et 35. When i bought them i was told they were 4x100 for vw fitment but when i went to put them on my truck they turned out to be 4x114.3. Im using 1" thick 4x100 to 4x114.3 adapters. Tires are 185/60/14(a lil wide). Will sell them with adapters minus tires if anyone is interested.

no vw doesnt fit, subarus need huge center bore hubs. subarus are supposed to have 59.1 center bore but not the case. Look for rims with around 65mm or have alloys you like machined out.

$700 for insurance? Holy crap. Our liability and comprehensive for the shop with mechanics and customer vehicles, etc is like half that!

Yeah, VW wheels need to have the center bored out, then they fit.

Those Ronals will fit the Suzuki without the adapter as long as they dont need the spacing. 4x100 is also the honda and all the newer trucks if I recall. So potential buyers are not limited to Subaru use. This should fit almost anything other than daihatsu!

Yeah and $700 didnt include collision/fire theft

The wheels are 4x114.3 so im not sure what mini they would go on but the truck sold so the wheels are forsale if anyone is interested.
