Kevin, Most of us have already done this in the sales category. Is this new category aimed toward the non-vendors/dealers?
I figured this would be a place for all the newbies and whom ever wants to introduce themselves to the community. (ex: "Hey I'm from xxx and here's my truck!" or "Hey I'm new to the truck world and I'm interested." ) Suggestions? Good idea / bad?
I think it will be good once we get more folks who have bought trucks on here. It might be better as a single forum as opposed to people posting in the separate brand forums. Although it might get kind of cumbersome after a while. I've seen threads like this on auto forums end up with many many pages. I dunno. How's that for fence sitting? I guess I give it a thumbs up.
I think the current setup works good. I am a member of over 100 forums, mostly automotive and marine, and they are all different. The one I like the best is www.hotboat.com. Setup basically like you have it...but they have a gallery section that allows members to post their pics and allows the search engine to search that forum...that way if someone is looking for a picture of Minicab (for example) they could just search the gallery for pics. Just a suggestion....there is nothing wrong with the way this forum is right now.....don't make it too complicated.....will turn away novice users.
I think this category is great. I for one am not a seller. As more and more of these trucks are purchased, and more look for forums like this one, it allows for owners like myself a chance to come in an announce our enrollment.
Adding this category is not too complicated to me. It's pretty simple and straight forward. I joined a while back and I still want to post a pic of my truck. I think it is a good way to get someone started. BUT....... no matter what you add or take away you'll never be able to make everyone happy all the time! A good approach is to do just what you are doing: ask.
I think this is a great idea! It would really be nice to know a little about each member and some info on their truck. I find that a lot of the best ideas come from owners that like to tinker with their trucks. It would also be a way to find people in your area that are interested in mini trucks. I believe that this forum will gradually become an "owners forum" rather than a "sellers forum". There will naturally become more owners than sellers as mini trucks are sold.
I just gave mine it's first task today. Yesterday, while I was looking for materials to make license plate brackets out of at Lowes, I found a Bosch front loading washer on clearance for half price. Today, I went back in the Hijet, and it was still there. I bought it on the spot, and had them help me load it into the truck. The employee was thrilled with the idea of being able to load curbside, instead of in the traffic lane. He expressed some interest in the truck - untill he heard that it didn't have A/C (it's pushing 100 outside today). I told him that they can be had with A/C, but they cost more. My little trip to Decatur got plenty of double takes, and "hey looks" from several construction zone workers. Oh, and I'm sold on the bed height. It rendered me able to unload the washer by myself when I got home.
Yeah, what he said. You get a lot of "HEY, LOOK WTF!" expressions when you're driving on the road in a kei. Colin
Kevin, What about a reference section? With info like I mentioned in this thread. http://www.minitrucktalk.com/showthread.php?p=596#post596
Yeah if we can use it to put all the reference numbers for all the trucks and parts. I can add "References" under "General Truck Info".
