I am looking for an ignition control unit that attaches to the side of the distributor on this engine, I have heard that one can be obtained through a Mitsubishi car dealer but have been unable to find a part number for this item, any help would be much appreciated.:frustration:

Is this what you're talking about? Or is it the part that looks like a half circle?

Well its been running for a couple of weeks, today I pulled the rear of the tranny apart and removed the circlip on the shift rod so it now has four gears. I buttoned it all back up cranked it up and shifted through the gears to verify all four were present.

Then I tackled the speedo removal, there is no speed limiter attached to the speedo on this model truck, any way after I buttoned all that back up I went to fire it up and I am back to no spark.

The external ignition module I just put on is suspect as it was a used part, so I am back to square one I suppose. I am looking really hard at the HEI conversion if it wil sork with the stock reluctor in this distributor.

    MD618402, SENSOR KIT,DISTRIBUTOR IGNITION SIGNAL.

that is the oem part # for the secondary signal sensor from the distributor. it feeds the ignitor a pulse for every revolution. It is the rpm limiter portion of your governor. on a normal application , it would be for the tach. It is easy to test. it just opens and closes a circuit. wave a pocket screwdriver with a magnet across the tip that is in the distributor and continuity will come and go between the two wires if it is working properly

Hei, old mopar, msd, accel... will work on your truck. you'll have to bypass a few other things that are dependent on the oem ignitor like the fuel cut relay and the fuel pump. timing will be another issue. pull the distributor, flip the rotor 180 move the plug wires one terminal over and rotate the distributor clockwise until the lockdown bolt is outside of the slot.... i can elaborate more if you want to go with a different ignitor...that is the key to getting away from the governor controls built in to the oem ignitor. you'll have to install a stand alone ignition unit.

    some parts......

    what motor?
I just replaced the distributor on my 94' u42t / 3g83 and have all the parts exept the housing and advance weights. Mine's pin that holds the centrifigual weights sheared, and the housing was cut in two by the weight rubbing!(way over advanced) still ran good till its dyin day.

Its a 3G83 I could use a reluctor out of one if you want to part with it LMK.
