I took my 1988 ACTY out on its maiden voyage and had to cut it short. It made terrible banging noises when hitting any bumps or ruts. I brought it home and did some inspecting. I found the brace on the front that holds the front driveline and differential to the frame very loose. It looks like there were once bushings but no more. Anyone have any photos of what their normal setup is? Here's what mine looks like. thanks!
Actually, they were gone...Finally found some information on this, thanks to Jamie at G&R Imports. He found out that they're not available any more from Japan, due to the age of the truck. I fashioned some new ones from a couple of 2" expander plugs and large washers, works great. If I need to redo them for any reason, it will be a snap and now I found some vulcanized hockey pucks that will work even better.
glad to hear you've sorted it mate, i've had to make a complete custom exhaust for mine today as i cant get one anywhere, took about 3 and half hours to do but at the end of it all i need to replace the manifold as the studs have snapped clean off, luckaly i have a good spare one,
Sounds like I got off easy with a couple of bushings... Glad you're able to scavenge from the parts truck. Thanks to this truck, when I do decide to upgrade to a newer one, I'll know quite a bit about the operations of it. I can't believe what I've discovered in 2 weeks since getting it. It's on the trailer to get a canvas cover made tomorrow.
i ant planning on selling this one for a good while, goona rebuild the spare engine and box, then put it in and rebuild the current engine, i like my job coz i work in a scrap yard (junk yard) so i can get what ever i want when i want for FREE lol
Yep, I'll hang onto this for a while too unless something major goes wrong because I don't have the parts that you do, that would definitely come in handy! Looks like you can drive it on the road too, that would be great but local laws wont let me. I could however if I lived in some smaller towns in the state. So, this will be my desert truck.
