Just got an 88 ACTY and the previous owner had removed the spare tire rack. Anyone have any photos of where these are mounted and also the bolt size? I have the rack and no bolts.

    thanks

I'm not sure if it's the same as my 98 but here are some pictures.

The rear of the bracket is bolted on with (2) 8mm bolts.

The front is held up with a J-bolt.

    Thank you!

Wow, thanks so much, that's exactly what I was looking for! Looks like the design hasn't changed much in 10 years! That will make it much easier for me to reattach!

Wow, they really changed from 87 to 88 huh? How do you like your 87,any problems? I like mine and can't believe what good shape it's in for being as old as it is.

I love the little thing, im usaul going round in my 350 bhp astra turbo but for some reason the little acty is a little more fun to drive lol, my acty is a 1987 model (uk) with only 1 owner from new, its got tax and mot till next year with only 90k miles on the clock and i payed £300 for, lucky enough i have a complete one for spares aswell, only owned it now for a couple of days,

Sounds like you got an excellent deal! I like the body style on the old ones better than the new ones too. I had some missing cross-brace bushings on it. I found out that they're not made any more. It only took me an hour to whip up some replacements for it, works great. It's nice not having to worry too much about where I take it, for what I paid, its not a worry.
So you're in Great Britain? Many of these running around over there?

I paid a lot more than you did but still didn't get hurt much, about $3500. I'll take a look at the new thread when you get it up!

There's another 88 on these forums that's going for $3900. I just saw a 93 for sale in my area for the same price as I paid, wouldn't you know...I don't know if the pre 1990 models are selling real well being they have the smaller motor and no fuel injection. Trouble is, there's just not many in my area, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, so I guess its just get what you can. Still, I'm happy with my little truck, don't expect to use it daily by any means, maybe several outings a year is all.

Not really, I think the previous owner put a lift on mine and it has 25" ATV tires. The front tires have a bit of a lean due to that. I'm told that Honda's can't be raised more than 2.5" or it raises hell with the cv joints and axles. Don't really know how much mine was raised but it seems to be fine as of now. It has a pretty rough ride on asphalt but it looks cool!
