Boot Replacemenet - rear, near differential

I have a 1994 Sambar. The rear boot on the driver's side near the differential (not the wheel) is torn. How do I go about changing this? I have found information on how to replace the CV Boot at the end of the axle where it connects to the wheel, but I am not sure about this replacement.

    Thanks

I had a torn front outer boot a while back, had to remove the whole shaft and take it to my friend's shop for him to take it apart, clean it up, and put the new boot on.

You would think they would make it easier to replace such a delicate part :)

Sorry if that's not much help. One tip though, Subaru uses a small roll pin to lock their CV shafts in. Took me a fair bit of yanking on it before I realized that!

    RR axel Q&A

    Hey sambar606,

You are just the person I want to talk to.

I have to change out the RR axel on my 2002 TT2, EL+5spd.

Is the roll pin all that keeps the axel attached to the differential?

Does the axel articulate enough to be withdrawn without having to pull the trailing arm pins?

Should the roll pin be replaced after removal?

I don't know what other questions to ask. I am replacing the whole axel assembly with a fresh used one with 21K on it.

The axel arrives this week. I will attempt this in the driveway.
