Hey guys, I'm thinking about upgrading my wheels/tires of my truck. It currently has stock wheels and small winter tires. I want something that will be light, work with stock height, yet have a bolder look. Any suggestions? ~Josh
It really is too bad but it seems like you just can't get the small diameter "mud and snow" tire like was available 20 years ago. The first set of snow tires we had for our 1989 Toyota All Trac were 165/70/13 IIRC and had a "truck-like" zig-zag tread. New snow tires, while they work INFINITELY better in the snow and ice than the old style, just fill up with mud in my experience. Some of the trucks from the Philippines seem to have some decent looking tires but have yet to see anyone in N.A. offer them.
Yeah, I don't so much mind whether they are mud/snow tires (which is what mine currently are on the stock size). I drive primarily on-road anyways. Just trying to give it a presence with larger size (similar to how the smart car has larger wheels despite its small size).
Well in that case you should be able to find plenty of good tires in 13" adn 14" sizes. I know that there are some 195/55/14's out there...
Yeah 13" sounds about right. Just need to find the right wheels too that will work without being too wide.
I have a subaru might not be the same but i went hunting in the local wreckers used a piece of fiberboard drilled it for the bolt pattern and got some calipers measured the hub then taped it so it could not slide and spent the day hunting. found that the 98 nissan sentra had the right bolt and centers. don't do like me and make the complete thing out of fiber board first hunt went wrong as the board tricked me into thinking i had the set but centers were too small.oh yes off set is about 1" out but they work 90 canadian for 5 good tires 13" and 5 rims
Nothing like some 15"x5" wheels and some P195/50r15's. Look on E-Bay there is a whole whack of wheels in that size with dual bolt patterns on them to fit 4x114.3mm. I have P165/70r13 tires on some Metro wheels and they fit really well, even though the tires are about 9% bigger than stock my speedo is dead accurate, confirmed with GPS and a radar gun (yes, I have a radar gun, E-bay rocks).
