I have a 91 minicab and cant keep it running. I replaced the fuel pump with an aftermarket unit and it ran fine for several months. I ran it out of gas and now it doesnt run right. I pulled the carb off and cleaned it. There was no trash inside it and gas is definitely getting to the carb. What could be wrong?

    fuel volume?

or ignition failure. a bad ignition will tend to look like a fuel problem where you have to keep pumping the pedal to keep it running. check your coil by swapping in a unit know to be functional then work your way forward from there to points, condensor and all that other fun stuff.

also, not sure if your model has it, check for a fuel cut off solenoid somewhere in the system... i have seen those fail on different models of vehicles and it won't idle and will barely run with the pedal mashed down.

    Milt,
Thanks for the response. I will check the fuel volume and all the other stuff.

When this happened one of the lights came on next to the speedometer. The light looks like an engine with smoke coming out of it. I assume that is the check engine light, do you know if that is correct?

Catalytic converter icon! ? Clogged CAT ? Just poking at unknowns but I have seen that icon on my cluster, not lit of course...not looking forward to that coming on ever.
