I was wondering how much one of these things would go for if it had a title?

Value of a mini truck with a title

Depends upon where you live of course. One of my dealers titles all of them and he doesn't raise the price because of it.

I have an actual pink slip and street plates in CA... it's rare, but what's your point. Depends where you're from and what the condition of your truck is in really.

I think the point is, it's rare because the DMV does not know what they are assigning plates to (Kei class vehicle). It is very likely that the few out there with plates were given because the agent "thought" it was just a regular pickup or car and the person getting the plates allowed them to run with their mistake.

I'm both happy for, and jealous of those lucky few. My only warning is this; if you are in an accident and someone is injured, I can garauntee the plantiffs attorney will look at pictures of your vehicle, when it is discovered that you were driving a non-road legal vehicle... that you obtained plates for it with improper documents (which is a homeland security violation)... the excuses about it being the DMVs fault and you "thought" you were legal are not going to help.

i kinda ran into the same thing with my bus. trying to get it licensed for private use was a gong show up here. the DMV was so sure that i was trying to run a passenger service and wanted more inspections and documents for it. so i finally did get it licensed but if i did such and was either caught or in an accident i would be in the same spot!

so moral is dont lie to the DMV lol

Like they said above, it will depend on where you live. Here in SD, it costs about $50 to get one titled with an actual title, so there is no mark up.

The only catch here is they license it as an ATV, so it doesn't have to comply with the federal rules for crash safety. Again here in SD, you can license and drive an ATV on the road/highway, but in a lot of states you can't.

I agree guys. The atv loophole is what we have to work with for now. If it gets most of you "limited" road use, thats a lot better than nothing, and is perfectly legal.
It's the folks with regular car tags as daily drivers that might get into a pinch if something went wrong. But then again, how often does anything go wrong...

haah... mine is licensed and insured as a mini truck. It has been since 1994... I've even had another one prior that was rear ended and the insurance claim went through without a hitch and I was reimbursed with out problems. As long as you have insurance, you're fine. Everyone can take off their tin foil hats now. Mine was legally registered and insured but the state of califorina's forrestry department as a left hand drive mini truck.

I'm not sure of a specific law or code, but I was warned by a local friend/deputy while we were discussing tags on a mini, that any fishy registration could be flagged, because of so much terrorism worry.

Saying that the DMV should have caught it isn't gonna be much of a defense to the feds. I'm not trying to throw a bunch of drama out there, just saying that everyone knows it is a grey area. When you try to take advantage of that, playing dumb isn't going to matter.
