I have chronicled the recycling of an old salvaged motor on my other forum. I hope it's ok to link to it rather than recreate it here. Competing car forums can get pretty touchy about such things but I didn't see conflict here. First the car than needs the engine. It is an 89' Nissan 180SX with a 1.8 liter turbo CA18DET engine. It just got tired, lost compression, I don't think I hurt it, it just needs an overhaul. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=277907 Now the fun part. I have convinced my forummates that I am putting the CA18 on hold to put a Skyline GT-R RB26DETT engine in it. The lines were drawn quickly into two camps, those that think I am breaking a law of nature to do this and those that can't wait to see it done. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/401479-what-would-you-do-in-my-place What is actually going to happen is a third engine that nobody remembers because they don't venture to that forum and it has been off the radar for over a year is what will get my car back on the road for the short term. It's a Skyline motor but instead the old warhorse FJ20ET http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/288212 Here is the turbo setup that will power it. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=157520 When I debut it it should create quite a mob scene. The FJ has a mystique to it with Nissan lovers equivalent to a 426 hemi with musclecar guys. Even the hardcore CA18 guys should lay down their axes. Should be fun. op: Here is the car when it was active http://www.nicoclub.com/ROTM/rotmdec05.shtml
Good to see im not the only turbo jap car person here. I got a 82 Mitsubishi Starion. With this SOHC 4G63 to replace the near stock one in it. expecting 400hp at the wheels.
