Do any of you have experience with using the Carlisle All Trail or the Super Grip Diamond Back tires as daily drivers? I am looking for an all terrain tire that will hold up on the pavement as well. Do they have a very rough ride? Thanks.

Carlisles are not D.O.T. rated and not meant for on road use or over 30 kph.
They will not stand up to road use and have a bad tendency of being off balance.

If you want a light trail tire, go for winter tires.

I have wallmart winters on my zuki, it came with bridgestone light truck tires that were balding and bouncy as hell. The wallmart tires work excellent.

ya, carlisle tires wont hold up to speed and lots of on road use, they flex too much and it chews them up. good set of winter tires is probably best.

im having a heck of a time finding tires for my truck. all it says on it is 175 R14...

we have some great tires that fit the stock rims....Super Diggers. They are not DOT approved but they work very well for pavement driving and they allow you some off road use as well. $60.00 a tire give us a call.

your 175r-14's could be 175/80-14's...with the R just behind the section with number in most cases means 80 (or close to it) just like the 145r-12 are 145/80-12. but if so a 175/80-14 is pretty tall, try 175/60-14 to keep your power at high way speeds. try this site i found months ago www.1010tires.com then click on tire calculator and it will show you the size differences. :D

    hope this helps

i am sure they must be 80's then. they are a tall tire. buddy manages the walmart tle here in town and we took several 175 ## r14's out to the truck and compared them next to it. none were tall enough and none were LT. he is trying to get me a set from firestone. guess they just started carrying big name tires now.

I'm running Carlisle All Trails on stock rims on my Mitsi. I drive it on pavement maybe once a week. They squirm & wobble just like I expected they would on pavement, but they're perfect for work around my property. I have Dunlop Graspics which I may switch back to when winter arrives again (in a few weeks :D).

I finally installed the 2" lift that came with my Mitsi and now it looks like it's on roller skates. 145R 12s...
The local Cdn Tire says NO 12" tires or rims stocked anymore, MAYBE a couple 13" but was zero help. No bedliners in the store, couldn't even find a bloody add on cupholder. All I got were a couple gel seat pads (great though!).
Went to WalNutz, they had about 40 tires in the whole store, no 12 or 13s at all.
Be nice if these guys stuck to what they do instead of trying to sell food, lawn chairs and doing a poor job on everything!
Kal Tire was more help. They laughed and said they could sell tires right now that wouldn't fit in the bed of the truck, but they'd have a printout of what tires and rims they could get their hands on in a couple days.

    funny story BC MCC :D:D
i got my 145 80-12 from crappy tire but i had to go in find someone that looks like they have been there most of there life, that way they wouldn't look at you funny when you ask for this tire size, and this guy looked them up knew what i wanted and had them that afternoon. (note; helpfulness may vary) :D

i like your name for walmart (walnutz)...that is the right tag for them ;D

i got my 14" wheels for my truck from Kal...hope you get some new shoe's soon with some pic's

I just bought some new shoes. I decided to go with the radials since I am daily driving it. I got some 175 65R14's from my local shop. They sure ride better than those 12's.

Well I'm down in the Vancouver area for a few days and saw millions of 14" and 13" 4 bolt plain rims at the wreckers, but I don't have the truck with me!
Don't want to guess and haul them 1100 kms home.

Will I need spacers if I stick to a 5" wide rim?
One of my friends suggested pairing my spare 12" wheels into rear "duallies" and running a fake stack upside the cab. Offered me a Peterbilt nameplate from his old logging truck to replace the Mits diamonds...:)

While I was on the coast I visited (www.superlauto.com) and saw some incredible Suzuki conversions. Priced at triple what I paid for my MMC, so dropping a few $$ into mine looks like an investment rather than a hobby!

    Sambar wheels + Tyres

Got myself a set of 13" rims to replace the stock 12" alloys on mine.
4X100pcd 45mm offset. Japanese alloys for a Nissan Micra.

Took a pile of stuff from the wreckers down to Kal Tire and we tried an assortment out on the front where problems would be obvious.
Found a set of 175R14 on Hyundai rims that "almost" did the job... about 1/8" from the front springs. All the other 13" rims were too wide and the tire rubbed on the spring.
Looks like the max I can go without spacers/new studs is about 4.5" - 5" offset.

Maybe I can leave it in 2wd leave the 12 on the front and put fat 14" LT tires on the back. Anyone got a plastic Ratfink for my antenna?:D
