Alright buys I need some help please! Ive been lurking in this forum for atleast a year researching and so on . I finally made a purchase just yesterday but now I might be regretting it. I found 87 hi jet locally for sale. has a 3" lift rims and tires a nice ladder/lumber rack and 32,000 miles. I got it for 1800.00. I figured I could put some a few K in it and have a real nice truck. Now I cant find parts lol.The 3" kit they had on has messed the cvs up so i need to rebuild them. Does any know if the 87-89 part are interchangeble? Or are the 87 parts interchangeble with any of the newer models. Also the fron struts are shot. I would like to go to a coilover or something thats going to soak up the dips alittle better. Anyone know of a kit availible? thanks again for the help. I need it....

I would suggest getting your hands on a Daihatsu parts manual and service manual for your year vehicle. The site sponsors and the information in the "stumbled on a goldmine" thread should get you headed in the right direction.

    R.e,
Your not all alone on this one - I have an 87 s81p and have done some homework. My truck was in half decent shape when I got it, but I paid about a thousand more for it and I've sunk a couple grr into it.
I don't know on CV interchangeability between 87-89, but I bought a rebuilt from g&r imports (sponsor). As far as struts, steer clear of any and all doiahatsu struts - even brtand new they are just plain worthless garbage (the only complaint I have about daihatsus design). I went with mitsubishi struts and a 2" lift and it is perfect now (I think).

As for shop manual, good luck - I paid over 100 bucks for one that was alleged to be for my truck, but I got it and of course its not for my model - seller says he's working on getting me a corrected copy (been six weeks now). Please let me know if you find the actual correct manual somewhere - if love to get one.
Let me know if there is anything else you need info wisean I have done some homework on our model/year.

You might want to post pictures of your find and describe it to us. There are plenty on here that will help, just need more info. Ive always love the looks of the Avengers. Chances are you wont find an Advanger Brochure. But most questions you might have can be answered.

I have a parts breakdown (IPL) for the 2wd and the 4wd.

Let me know what you need and I can look it up.

The numbers will supercede like crazy though.

If you're afte new coil springs the ones you're after are the 10 x 2 5/8 inch Afcos

From memory I think the 23200's give a good ride. However fitting stiffer springs will increase the ride height again slightly and put more pressure on your CV's. Depending on the size of your tyres you could remove the lift kit and compensate by fitting stiffer springs. I wouldn't really recommend going any stiffer than 250's though otherwise it will get too bumpy.
