    Hi,

I just bought a Mitsubishi minicab and I am looking for inspiration for installing a stereo. Please post pictures or ideas.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Its easy on a mitzi! The mitzis have pre-punched holes in the door. You'll have to pull the bottom of the door panel off, to get an idea as to where the hole is. Once your in the correct location, use a razor knife to cut the hole in the door panel for the speaker. The door panels are a fiber/masonite material. I've installed 6.5 inch speakers on several trucks with no problems. I've also used Sony radios with no problems. The radios bolt in using the clips off of the stock radio when removed. I'm not sure, but I may have pictures in my gallery of where the speakers are placed.

Just a word of caution --

Make sure you are on the money with the speaker install in the door. Remove the door panel enough to know exactly where you can install the speaker. Otherwise, you'll be a moron - like me - and either (a) cut a hole where the metal inside the door panel will not allow you to mount a speaker or (b) cut your hole too close to the window crank. Personally, I did both. :( It's a real pain to stencil a new door panel and have them recovered in vinyl.

My oem radio had three wires in the harness. I didn't use any of them. I tapped off the fuse block on the passenger side (labeled in English, of course) for both a constant on (for memory) and a switched circuit. There is plenty of room to run wire behind the dash. The dash trim pops right out (be gentle). My radio trim ring did not fit, so there is a slight gap.

Like dwink said, the existing radio 'clips' screw into your new radio and then the new radio will slide right into place.

I installed a Kenwood CD/MP3/HD Radio. It was relatively simple and took me less than an hour start/finish. I didn't install door speakers, I used the 2 factory locations on the dash. They are only 4inch but the performance is surprising in the small cab.

Replying to a very old post, on the off chance you remember - I see a factory spot on the passenger side, but where did they intend for a speaker on the driver's side? Not spotting one...

As cheap and simple as it gets ditching the stock AM radio. The Adveise stereo's have built in speakers, FM, bluetooth, USB plug, etc.... They usually sell for in the $30-$40 range. They sound OK for the price. Fits perfect and took all of 1/2 hour to install. I was glad someone has posted a video on youtube showing how to remove the stock AM radio on Suzuki Carry's as one of the 2 screws holding it in is kinda hidden

This is my stereo when it was installed. The speakers were in the door already so just upgraded those.
