hello to all, my name is tim. i'm from mississippi. i've been a mini truck owner since march 07. mine is a 99 suzuki. been working on it off and on all year. i posted some pics of it. look forward to talking to you guys about yours and i'm open to any questions about mine.
yes, i put it on myself with the help of a friend. it is not hard to put on. you need a good heat gun to help you in the areas with a bend. it is pretty thick vinyl. so far i have not had any tears in it and i pressure wash it every time i wash it. and i've had it in areas where the limbs and briars have been against it. so far i've been real pleased with it. i ordered it straight from camoclad and it was at my door in three days. my truck took 4 1/2 sheets. it took a good solid day 7am-7pm to get it all on. and i dont have any experience with decals.
Thanks, I want to put some on my 95 Mitsubishi but not sure if i wanted to tackle it or not. What about the fender flares where did you come up with them, i need those too.
michael, the fender flares come on a roll and can be found at jcwhitney.com. as far as the camo, you can do it yourself with the aid of one other person. the "non permanent" camoclad is what you want. that particular type can be stuck and removed if necessary to re-arrange the material. once pressure is applied to it and smoothed down, it sticks really well. the sticky side has channels in the glue that allow you to push out the air bubbles. there is a good set of instructions and a video on the camoclad site. i even took the leftover scrap pieces and did the interior of my truck. i really enjoyed camo-ing the truck.
nice good job on the camo. i know a few other owners in SW Mississippi. and have seen a few trucks on the road ,but haven't stoped to talk to them. these are like the old VW bugs they tend to all be "old friends that just met".
nice truck hey tim, did you make those bumpers or buy them. i'm just up the road in grenada. just got through painting a deck van in camo. put 14" itp wheels with a 3" lift camo seat covers.
i made them. they are 6" channel iron. i had to remove the front bumper and weld some brackets to the frame and then make some cutouts in the factory bumper for the brackets to stick thru and attach the front bumper. the rear was easier. i justed used some angle iron to make brackets to attach to the frame. each bumper has a 2" receiver cutout in the middle that is flush mounted. that way i can use my winch on both ends.
