They work great. I would take one anywhere you would take your 250 4 wheeker. Had mine in the snow 4 weeks ago. Wish it would snow somemore. I had a blast.

My experience with a Sambar leads me to believe that you'll have no problems except for the odd issue with reduced clearance.

I've been driving my Sambar around our very hilly rural property. Lately, most of this has been up to the top of a very big and steep hill to take records of wind measurements. Stock truck with differential lock but summer tires. In dry conditions, the truck went wherever it was pointed, even up the steepest hills (in ultra low). Six inches of snow made things more fun. I had to finesse my way up hills. Avoiding deep drifts and using momentum were key but I got the hang of it pretty quick. Even still, I ended up walking up the steepest section to the weather station. The truck just couldn't get enough traction to climb and momentum would only get me half-way. But it sure was fun.

We just received six inches of snow yesterday, giving us well over a foot of snow. The truck will stay parked and I will be strapping on my snow shoes.

Yup, I think any 4WD truck will outperform your 2WD ATV. You wouldnt even difflock to beat it.

However, difflock is a nice touch if you get somewhere really sticky. I think Mits is the only truck that doesnt offer a difflock, however there are limited-slip kits available here somewhere that may be an option.

Mattracks is what you might want to try

Mattracks will be your best bet. Check around your area or call mattrack for a reference of someone in your area that has already put them on a vehicle. Talk to them, have them demo it for you. You get more power due to the reduced gearing and you can turn just as sharp as you could with only tires. Though not cheap they will perform for you.

    Good luck,

I have a 1993 Carry with 489's on stock rims - no lift. It was put in storage right after purchase - another story. Anyway - I found the front springs a bit mushy so I replaced them with 250# based on info from the spring sticky thread. Huge difference, different truck. If you stay stock - wheels and height I would go with 225# springs.

I go everywhere I could possibly ask the truck to go on our farm in 2wd and 4wd. Sometimes it would be nice to have the lockers but I find 99 percent of the time I would not even need them. Just get some more aggresive tires and you will be good to go.

I have a few of the mitsu's without the diff lock and got them in situations that suprised me. They do perform well in fwd but i was looking for more and worked with alan, another member here, who created a limited slip kit to improve traction. I would put my mitsu's up against most 4x4's in any conditions.

heres one of the videos of mine out in the dirt.

    They are ridiculous fun!
