    Hi all mini-truckers-
I'd like to find out if anybody out there has successfully registered as a farm vehicle in California. I understand it gives you the right to drive on roads between properties. Also, having removed the gear shift 1st/reverse limiter, will I get spanked if seen driving without it?

Thanks- really enjoying the forum and all the help you guys have thrown my way!

PS- got the paint done, the bedliner, the tires, the 2" lift, the air/oil filter change. Couldn't have done it without you!

i've heard of people getting farm tags for them. i'm no farmer, but i live on the outskirts of town, there's dairy farms to the east and cotton to the west. i put a slow moving vehicle triangle on the back of mine to see what would happen. i had it insured as well. i had a maricopa county sheriff behind me and a couple of Phoenix's finest at different times and didn't get pulled over... but originally being from So. Cal. i know how funny the cops out there can be... oh, yeah, i alwasy left a little bit of hay in the back of my truck as an "excuse" for having it on the roads :D

Put a "slow moving vehicle" sign on. In Texas that is legal as long as you are within 20 miles of your farm and are working on farm related duties. We use them and catch no slack. Check with your dot officer and see what the California law is. I'm sure tractors are allowed to move around with the signs, so why would'nt a mini be able as well!

Thanks Guys- I'm up at 6500 ft on Piute Mountain with 10 acres "in-holding" in a National Forest. The only cops up there are Forest Rangers, but if you ask me some of them wear a badge tighter than a homicide detective.

My neighbor got his Rhino registered as a farm vehicle, but I doubt the DMV will know what I'm driving.

    Ag use

Here in Indiana, one can eiither use a "Slow moving vehicle" triangle, or pay for a DNR sicker from that department. Either will allow you to use the county roads for purposes of getting from one field to another, or into town for the purchase of materials. The Cops do not bother any of us. It also a good idea to keep the speed reasonable.

in ct we register the mini's as factory vehicles. that means they can travel within 1500 feet of the facility, but the police don't know that, so they don 't bother us. my company maintains a university in a city so we are all over the place with these things. we have cushman white trucks, john deere gators, bobcat toolcats and don't have a problem as long as there is a plate on them

Sounds like easy living in CT. I'm using mine on the property in the mountains, and I like use it to run around to neighbors cabins and such. The problem is there are a lot of dirt bikers and quads up there, so Rangers are pretty strict.
