Well I got my Carry its an 88, and went through it and well I need a few parts for it. So far it needs tires, winter tires and will need some summer street tires. I would also like to replace the wiper arms, and maybe get a few spare wires, plugs etc, maybe some brake pads, etc. Was wondering where does everyone shop for parts. I also would like a new shrowd that goes around my steering wheel, where the key goes in, the one in the truck looks like its flaking apart.... And so far I'm sifted through this board for the past two weeks... Very informative... k - laters
Always a good idea to start with the sponsors at the top of the forum, more of the Canadian sites are West Coast based [BC & Sask] but don't discount the US sponsors of the east coast who I'm sure could get you what you need and are closer as the crow flies to you.
Re: Shipments from USA to Canada Something to keep in mind is that small parts should go USPS rather than UPS Why you ask? UPS has this nasty "brokerage" fee that they tack on that the end user has to cough up before they get their part. Sometimes this "brokerage" fee can be more than what the part is worth or what it cost to ship it. I know this from experience with UPS - also some other carriers have bought into this as well.
I am in Texas and just ordered a timing belt from Minibruts in Canada. They sent it by DHL. I think shipping was 15.00.
Trax: It's outbound shipments from USA to Canada that they [UPS] don't play nice on. It's a whole different kettle of fish going Canada to USA.
Its ok on the Shipping I live in Canada and have a US address. I never ship stuff across the border I dont like paying duty, and a zillion other things.... Plus I only live 20min from the border.... But thanks for the information, its very helpful
I bought 4 winter tires at Canadian Tire. The were the only place that had the 12" size. For other parts I use Jeff at MiniBrutes.
I found www.rockymountainimports.net very good for parts. All I had to do is tell hi the model number and year of my truck and he responded that night. I was quoted $75 and $95 for front brakes by two other places and was quoted $55 for my brakes with them.
Well so far I went to one Canadian Tire for Tires, the guy was a complete Moron. I went to another they had Winter tires, and he told me to check out the other one. They had two more.... Tires are installed, I called a few places and got prices for parts, and well, soon as I get back from my trip I will invest in a few spare parts for tune ups and what not... k - thanks for helpful info
I would have to agree that Rocky Mountain Imports (Victoria/Vancouver) seems to have a lot of mini truck parts in stock and the prices are great.... he has helped me out of a bind a few times now! http://www.rockymountainimports.net/
Rocky Moutain does have alot of good stuff and good pricing. We have a lot of salavage parts here but shipping to Canada may get expensive for some things. Feel free to contact us if Rocky Mountain cannot help
