Hi all! Just thought I'd update my Cushman truck adventure as I spent today installing the new clutch and putting the tranny back in. Had to throw some aluminum on the lathe to make an alignment tool for the clutch, but that was simple enough compared to wrestling the tranny back in after it all sat apart for about 4 or 5 years. After finding what bolts went where, getting all the linkages hooked back up and draining the ancient smelly gas it was time for fresh fuel and a new battery. With the choke about half-way it amazingly started right up! After idling for a bit I went to put it in gear and GRRIINNNND! After a brief moment of head-scratching I managed to adjust the clutch cable and thus commenced a spin around the yard. The "GOVERNOR" light kept blinking on and off sporadically and after a few minutes the little four-banger started running rough, like it was missing. Enough fun for the day I parked it and will get back into it on Tuesday to see about the ignition system. Tempted to do the MSD install, but not sure due to some of the comments regarding timing problems. Don't really need a lot of speed from it so may keep stock. We'll see! op:
Nothing like seeing something come back to life after a long hibernation. I'm sure youll get the rest sorted out in time, well done.
