Great site, great information. I appreciated the sponors and their goods. This is a great resource. I completely rebuilt a 1989 Daihatsu Hijet S80 from two parts vehicles I purchased for a couple of hundred bucks, I completed it a year and a half ago. It took alot of work/ time and many new parts, but it has proven to be substantially better than expected. I wish I would have known about this site sooner, it may have sped things up for me. My kei is an open US model with left hand drive and is older than most I have seen. The carb solenoids and c-clip have been removed yeilding great top speeds. I did some backyard welding and created a safari type rack (kind of ugly) and rear bumper with a hitch. It is still a work in progress with many new ideas coming from this site. I hope to exchange some good information with all of you.
looks great i like it!! certainly looks like you had a purpose in mind when you built it. welcome to the forum
Welcome, the truck looks great. As of now, I'm sure your well versed in the mechanics of a Hijet. Has the roof been replaced on yours? -Greg
Thanks Greg and Milt, The roof has been replaced, it's a custom composite version. The rebuild has taught me a thing or two about the old Hijet. -GD
