I'm looking for tires for going in the mud. From what I gather The Carlisle All Trails are the only 23" tire that are rated to carry the weight 23x8x12 All Trail is rated for 1125 ea. I really want more of a mud tire, but don’t want to risk blowing a tire because I'm running overweight. Being a Van, I like to load the kids up plus adults. Should I just stick with the All trails or does anyone have any recommendations?

Also, I’m looking into a 2" lift found on e-bay (since 3" requires modifications), the price seems right and seems fairly easy to install. But, after doing more research there are Suspension Lifts With Camber Adjustment for a little more. What’s better, or does it really matter? I’m not a mechanical whiz, but I can learn real quickly if I need to.

first thing to consider when lifting a van and changing the tires is making sure the rear tires don't stick out so far that you can't slide the rear doors open

and before you decide on whether to do a lift kit that spaces the strut or changing the front springs, get a jack under the front and see how much droop your suspension has. then see how much compression it has. idealy you want the truck to ride in the middle of the suspension range. if it's like mine when i bought it the front coils had relaxed and there was no compression left in the springs. so i decided not to use spaces but to go for new front springs instead.

and check with the site sponsors ^^^ at the top of the page for lift kits rather than e-bay.

Milt makes some good points. If you have a late model Hijet, I would suggest using the 2" lift from Michtrucks. It is very easy to install, and the camber is preset, and good enough for any off road application. I did have to cut the doors a bit, but it is really easy with a jigsaw. Then I applied JB weld to the cut areas of the door skins, and put white touch up paint on it afterward. Be careful when getting new rims because the rims I got didn't allow clearance for the calipers. I found 1/4" wheel spacers in Summit Racing for $7 a piece, and they fixed the problem.

Thanks for the info, I did not even factor in the back doors. Do you know if the all trails will clear the sliding door?

My doors will not fully open with the all trails on my 2001 van.

JPM- I would love to see some pics of the cut job on your doors!!

I didn't take any project photos, but I literally spent about half an hour on it tops. I just drew a line with a magic marker and cut along the line. The metal is so thin that I took about a minute per door to cut it with the jigsaw. I couldn't believe how easy it was.

Here is what it looks like.

23 All Tail on 96 Deck Van

I put 23 in All Trail Tiers on my factory rims with no problems on a 96 Deck Van. Rear doors slide no clearence problems. I am curious what your gas miles is on your deckvan. What year do you have?

I bought it already lifted but I don't think any mods were needed besides the lift it self.

I have a 92 full van not the deck van. im not exactly sure what i get for gas milage, but i go forever between fillups. I had it tagged for a little over a week and did quite a bit of city driving with a/c and was getting about 40mpg. Now since its off road I have not been paying attention.
