I only have one key, and wanted to make a duplicate. I brought the key to several places and no one seems to have a blank. I have a 2005 Hijet. Anyone know the best place to get key blanks? Maybe a Toyota dealer, since Daihatsu is a division of Toyota? Please help me out before I lose this key and my truck becomes a parts truck, lol.

Hardware and building supply houses could not help. I went to a good quality freestanding local key shop. They were able to find several usable blanks (IIRC) and made good duplicate keys for my 1993 Hijet. One blank is labeled Ilco x137 and tr33. This is just to give you an example.

Ace hardware had Toyota key blanks that worked . they are longer but the cut was made on the end only.

For me it was a trip to Wal Mart. They stuck my Sambar key in their jig and it told them what blank to use.
    Worked perfect.

Home Depot had blanks for my 99 Daihatsu. I think it was a Toyota blank.

I went to a Toyota dealer for my '93 Climber. He searched around for awhile and found a blank, cut it and sent me home free of charge. It was a little sticky at first, but worked just fine. So I'm headed back to pay for that one and to get about 3-4 more made! I plan on giving one to my wife to hide from me and throwing the original in the fire safe as a precaution.

Good to know I can get a spare made of my 04 Hijet as well. I figured a toyota blank might work. I will try Ace hardware first, then Lowes.
