NEW Secret Chrevrolet (Suzuki) Carry Trucks & Every Vans!

Discussion in 'Suzuki Carry' started by Donald Andrews, Nov 20, 2008.

  1. :eek:Here is a couple of photographs taken of NEW LHD Chevrolet (Suzuki Made) Carry and Every Mini Vans. :DThese were taken at customs lockdown compound in Yokohama. Yes, we got caught and made us delete some photo’s (they missed camera #2). These are LHD and badged Chevrolet. They disappeared as fast as they came. Id say a total of 500 units of three types of vehicles with the Chevy nameplate.

Go to this homepage and click on “Fun Stuff” link to see the pictures. Sorry only three pictures remain… http://www.yokohamamotors.com/Chevrolet LHD mini Van.htm

Asked customs where they are going? Reply: Where is what going? I don’t see any cars. You need to leave now…..:(

    Cheers,
    Don

Probably heading for South America or Europe is my guess. See the Chevrolet Carry Pickup in Spain. (which, oddly, is not a current Carry...maybe an old webpage) ???

    Gotta love "Badge Engineering"!:D

  7. What the picture doesnt show is the paperwork (in the window) and labeling was all in English. The truck was labeled Chevrolet Carry. I called my buddy at Suzuki and can not confirm not deny. Basically they are SP (Special order). Ill try to find out more.

Maybe if the CEO from GM had driven to the Senate hearings in a "Chevrolet" Every Van
he would have got more sympathy from them. :D

    GM and Suzuki

I assume everyone is aware that GM is no longer 15% owner of Suzuki. Suzuki purchased all of GM's stock last week. GM will begin to phase out all Suzuki-made (Chevy badged) vehicles in the US immediately, and Suzuki plans on immediately expanding their lineup dramatically including a US MiniVan. (US News & World Report)

  10. GM sold it stock back to Suzuki to raise cash. Suzuki stated "We understand GM's Cash Situation". GM did not sell its stock on the open market. Suzuki stated "Business as usual".

There are "No" plans to phase out anything, GM is just trying to raise money to pay for corporate jets and Wagners million(s) dollar pay check. This is not the first time GM & Suzuki have played the stock swap and money game. Same deal applies with Isuzu.

    Live in Tokyo,
    Don

Yeah, they sure aren't coming to the US, especially seeing how anti-Kei-vehicle the federal government is.

The smallest thing coming from the US auto makers will be around the size of the 2011 Ford fiesta, which is pushed back so far just so that it will be able to pass the safety tests. See: http://www.fordvehicles.com/2011fiesta/

Chevy's own "Beat" is cute, but from what I've read they aren't sure they can bring it to the US though. Bob Ludz wants the US gov. to temporarily halt the current crash test standards (or reduce them a little) for a few years so that they can bring some of the european Chevy models (such as the upcoming Beat) here to the US.
    See: http://www.motorauthority.com/bob-lutz-calls-for-crash-test-freeze-to-aid-small-car-production.html

So yeah, no chevy-kei trucks will be found in your local chevy dealer anytime soon.

Amazing, the U.S. Government doesn't want small foreign made vehicles on our roads. So Chevy makes them now and they aren't legal in the U.S.A. either.
    Go figure, huh.

I know there is a U.N. ECE [U.N. Economic Commission for Europe] standard for bumpers that Canada has just become part of.
We had our own standards for bumpers that didn't snyc with the ECE standards the result being that cars from Europe
were for the most part ineligible for importing into Canada. I think it was something to do with the WTO that made the Feds accept
    the ECE standards.
It would be nice if everybody could get on the same page for a set of standards that would be acceptable in Japan/ N. America/ Europe.

    Link for U.N. ECE info

I wonder what would happen if a few years from now some of these start showing up in the states and somebody takes it to a Chevy dealer for service. You think they would deny it's a Chevy.
