I was looking through some sites and have had many calls on Jumbo cabs. most of the better condition, and newer, vehicles can get pricey. So i had a thought on making a kit that you can put together to mod your own standard cab into a Jumbo. This would cut the cost down and can be done by a body shop or by a private individual with some tools and skill. What do you guys think about this? is it worth the time for anyone to mod their cab into a jumbo to save a few thousand or do you guys think that it would be better to just buy one and save the trouble?
I have a Jumbo in great shape that is 2WD. I taked to BullDog minis out of Shreveport, LA and they said I could convert it to 4WD for about $800.00. I think this would be an easier route to take. But a universal extended cab kit would be great for anyone that already has the standard cab. BTW: my Jumbo is for sale, I have a guy holding a micro van for me.
There are some kits out there already. And I believe that Bull Dog does conversions as well. I have done one ('95 suzuki) and it wasn't bad, but the hardest thing is finding seats that fit in the truck when you're done. I put some black tractor seats from Tractor Supply in mine. All the automotive seats I found sit too high. The cab also seemed to be much louder inside, too. Personnally, I prefer the factory Jumbo's.
