Today I received Nippon Element MFG part number NE-6487, an air filter for the Hijet. The measurements are about 6 inches in length and 4.25 inches in diameter. I have looked for a reasonably priced filter for some time and hope that this one will fit. The measurements are very close to those of the filter that came in my truck. Cost on eBay was $13.60 for the filter and about $15 shipping. I don't know if seller is a sponsor and will not mention the name here but will send the name by e-mail to interested parties. It will be some time until I get out to the country to see how this part fits. Sam
I bought a Wix filter, for the hijet, at Oreillys for under $20. I went to the wix site and crossed the number from my old filter. Their site did not list it for the hijet, but the part number crossed over, and the filter was identical. I can take the filter out and get you the part number if you would like it.

The part number is 546257. Wix's old part number for that filter is 46257. That is the number I gave Oreilly's. The Wix site shows it to fit a Daihatsu S80. Looks like the Oreillys price has gone up since I bought mine a few months back... they are now $20.99. The Wix is a different size from the filter already in my truck and different from the filter I just bought. My dimensions are six inches in length and about 4.25 inches in diameter. My 1993 truck is a model S83P. Sam
I would say it is the correct filter for your truck. The wix is only about a quarter inch longer than yours, and that is probably due to the rubber ends not being compressed on the new filters. What is the part number on your original filter? Is it the factory one?
a note on my experience - I have a '93 S-83 truck and the Wix (NAPA) 6257 filter will not fit - the inside diameter is too small and will not seat -
I have not installed my Nippon air filter so it was easy for me to measure it. Inner diameter is about 2.5 inches. Samurai
Get a hold of Chad Hite. You can find him in the parts section here or on ebay under suzuki mini trucks down on the bottom of page where parts are listed. He's got the right filters and a good price.
In past months I have contacted Chad three or four times. He never had the air filter I needed. But now I need to take the Nippon filter I bought on eBay out to the country and see if it fits in my truck. Sam
