Can anyone let me know how to stop the obsessive beeping when I put my sambar in reverse. As if these things dont get enough attention as it is.
I try and plan my escapes so no reverse is needed but sometimes its not a possibility!
help me kill the beep beeps!

look under you back bumper or whatever the reverse light is bolted to. the beepers are typically tied into the reverse light. that is the easiest way to hook those up. it's usually a little black box type of thing no idea how big that one might be. but it should look like a little piezo buzzer.

found the little bugger i think. on subaru, its a round black thing with a few hole on the "speaker " side.

So if I pull that thing off and just twist the wires back toether i should be ok.
    we'll see

don't twist them together if one wire is a ground

you should have one wire going to the buzzer and one wire grounded to the mounting bolt. you can just clip the wire that's tied into the light and forget bout it.

buzzer (i think its the buzzer) is mounted to inside rail of frame near the back. Reverse light is mounted on flip down engine cover on rear of Sambar.
If i just clip the small wire heading from buzzer to the big wire of the reverse lamp i should be good hey.
going out right now with snippers. Hope i dont ef things up too bad.
gonna rip that buzzer out anyways. think of the weight savings. should pull another horsey or two out of her yet once i strip it down to just what i need.

once you clip that wire don't forget to put a little crimp connector or something over it so it doesn't ground out on anything.

Once i got down under for a real look it ended up being a small white clip. Not sure if this had disabled the reverse light aswell. I'll have to wait until someone else is around for them to have a look for me. BUT i have no annoying beeping anymore. I can sneak out in reverse with out waking my sleeping 1 yo

My '05 minicab van has a reverse beeper that sounds inside the cabin, but not outside. Goofy, eh?

Yeah, the subaru reverse beeping is only heard inside the cabin.
So even though you think everyone is hearing it outside, only you are inside.

So it doesn't attract extra attention. If people are looking, its just because you are in such a unique little truck/van.

on my mitsu there still is the back up beeper and i think it fun:D it sure makes people jump back when i back out of of parking lot...just one fun thing these things do:D if you what to check if your back up light is working, just turn your key to the run position (do not start) and put your truck in reverse your back up light will come on if not hook the wires back up and test them with power to them then you will find the right one. my beeper is a round black cylinder under the box in the frame rails half way between the diff and the cab.
    HTH
    i should start a new cause..."Save The Beeper"...:D

Yeah, in the parts manuals and wiring diagrams it is "optional" at the factory/dealer level. Not standard. Of course many were installed aftermarket as well.

I would say 1/4 i have seen had the beeper.
