Good luck with your load in Calgary.

I had a horible time three weeks ago with 4 trucks and a car. I recomend that you follow the broker and/or customs very close for the possible need to have your vehicles inspected and where. My vehicles (in a sea can) sat for 6 days waiting for CSBA to advise me to move them to another facility for a complete inspection. In the end cost was over $2000 extra and there was no problem with soil, that was just extra storage unstuffing and freight. PM me if you run into trouble.

Yah, Calgary is not a good place to be landing JDM's right now.
From what I know port of Vancouver is still ok in this regard.

    I will second that
My 4 trucks cost an extra 1800 or so,and an extra 2 weeks.Went very smooth and easy though, and did it all myself. No big deal, just extra money.
Big hint for ya---go to customs when they open up and they are a lot happier, and no talking back eh!!!

We had no trouble at all with the inspections. Our broker in Japan
steam cleaned the entire vehicles and were spotless when they landed.
All paperwork was in order when trucks landed so everything went
smoothly that way as well. Container was shared and inspected
basically on landing. Trucks are now railing to Edmonton, then trucking to Calgary. Should be here Thursday.

:confused:Why not just have them railed to Calgary?
was it due to the container sharing?

So what port did they land at if your railing them to Edmonton?
Vancouver? If so that was a smart choice.

    They ported in New Westminster.

That's what I thought. Same place [almost] I recd mine, except mine came to WWL
terminal on Annicis Island via ro/ro. I have heard that the CBSA agents in Calgary
are actually using a white gloved hand and if it comes up dirty it fails.
Which by my readings is unfair as there is a certain small amount of dirt
allowed but apparantly a select few with poor track records has wrecked for everybody else.

    It's here!!

Add two more Carrys to Calgary. Our trucks arrived this last week. What a blast to drive!! Took mine down the Deerfoot at 110Km/h with pedal room. Just have to get inspection, do fluids, tune up and it's ready to work.

Have you found any place that carries accessories for the Carry? Not necessarily automotive, but things like seat covers, truck boxes, cup holders etc.

Just got mine yesterday, 1992 Suzuki Cary Dump, I got it Steven at MichTrucks.com. I'm In Ontario, There is a dealer in Kitchner Ont. I highly recomend MichTrucks if you are trying to import to Canada. Steven Venglarcik handled it all for me. I am very happy with my purchase

    93 Daihatsu Hi-jet

Previously from Vancouver moved to Herouxville, Quebec and bought my Daihatsu in Shawinigan, Quebec from an dealer www.mini4x4.ca . It had only 27,000 kms and passed the provincial inspection with just a few modifications that I did. Like adding day time running lights, having the lens shine to the other side. etc. There are a lots of mini trucks sold here.

Hi from Québec. I have a 1993 Carry since just over a week now. I get smiling faces every where I go. I'm upgrading to 185-60-14 tires in a couple of days. Hoping lower revs & smoother ride. Cheers!

Hey - I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We have a new importer in the province here - Blockhouse Mini Trucks. I picked up my 92 carry with axle and diff lock from him last week, and so far I'm very happy. Biggest problem with the truck so far is all the damn questions you get every time you stop somewhere. it makes getting work done a little more difficult!

I look forward to getting to know this little truck some more.

Are those tires rated for that kind of speed?

Looks like those tires i sent you arrived safe and sound. How long did it take to arrive? I just sent a few other sets to a customer in Ontario that same week and they were there in 4 business days.

Those are not even DOT tires are they?Quad tires should never pass an OOP inspection.Scares me knowing that is on the road, driving beside the sidewalk my kids walk on.UNSAFE in my honest opinion.:mad:Offroad only

Thats correct. It says right on the side of them "not intended for Highway use". In the Carlisle Tire Catalouge there is an astericks next to them as well as some other makes. The astericks signifies that these tires are rated at 50MPH. Still not highway... but i suppose a little less wrong if there is such a thing. I wouldn't be riding on them on public roads for fear of Highway Traffic cops. When ever i pass one currently even if i'm fresh out of the mechanic shop and with a crisp inspection form in the glove box i still see them glare as i drive by.:)

yes i know they are not legal tires..and no I don't drive around town with them..i just put them on for looks, and when I offroad with it I put them in the box, and bring my pump jack and cordless impact to switch back and forth...but i DO drive down old logging roads at 70+kph...and no I don't think any kids are playing on the roads....and mine no longer say not for highway use...is just fell off??? Lee...they showed up fast...about 3 business days...thanks!!!

Subaru driver in Calgary since Jan '08; best suited truck I've ever had. Was weighing in at the metal scrap yard the other day to dump some stuff off and the guy asked me if I wanted to scrap the whole truck! Comedians everywhere with these things.
