I am currently taking parts off a running hijet to get my not so good running hijet running. I have narrowed down my biggest problem though. The points. I think they are the only thing keeping it from running good now. However my parts wagon has a different points setup. I removed the distributor cap and they are not identical. Easiest thing would be to replace the points. Anyone know what points I could get from a local parts shop that would work with my 86 Hijet?
I did a lot of research and found that the wells JA13 points look identical to the ones in my 3cyl left drive 550cc hijet. But keep in mind I haven't swaped them yet to be sure. I think I asked for points for a 77 chevy luv at autozone. If you try these please let me know if they work or not. David
i picked up points for a 77 chevy luv. They are a match. However I still cant get it to run. Not sure what they need to be set at. I didnt have gap feelers or the correct guage so trial and error got old after a bit. Anyone know what they need to be set at?
if you don't have a feeler gauge try a matchbook cover that's usually in the ball park and will get you on the road
