    Hey fellow outdoorsmen
I am getting out of the truck-trailer-4wheeler and getting a mini truck this week. 96 Suzuki Carry
For hunting, how does everyone carry their equipment - especially long guns in their mini? I may have to start carrying shorter rifles or shotguns or leaving them in a tool box in the back.
Any thoughts or photos would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I've got a '95 Carry and the coolest thing I've found for carrying rifles is one of these [IMG]
    - eBay item #130161876541

It straps right to the rack on the back of the cab slick as a whistle. They're really well padded also.

A good 3"-4" lift and 25" mud tires and you should be able to go about anywhere you could take a 4-wheeler.

    Later,

    Gun Box

Cabelas has a firearm/toolbox under their UTV section that looks pretty good.

i use mine for coon hunting, i run hounds. the box is just as big as the ford ranger i used to use, and with this i can go offroad a heck of a lot more places . i just put some Kenda Bear Claws on it -wow a world of difference with the atv tires compared to the 13 in. mud and snows i was running, i dont have a lift on mine and really don't think you need one but another couple inches may not hurt , but i only have 22 by 8 atv tires on it. Good luck with the truck i think you will love it.

    Thanks for the tips.
I drove the truck about 40 miles of back roads to get home the night I bought it. I was impressed how fast I could run over the rough stuff. I've really been scratching my head trying to figure out how to haul my coyote rifle in the cab though!

Wal-mart has them on clearance for under 50 bucks. Better get it before they run out.

    Hey Orlando,

We trailer our truck to our hunting lease.

My wife and I carry our rifles in the front with us. It's crowded but can be done. She has a Remington 700, .223 and I use a Carbon 15, .223.

Also we are not traveling on county roads. Once we get to our place we just stay there and hunt. So no problems with guns in the cab from a law enforcement perspective.

Just takes a little more care getting in and out.

I am considering a deck van, though.

    Thanks for the response.
I have a Remington VSSF 22-250 that will probably have to stay home. I also have a Bushmaster Varminter that I plan to put a collapsible stock on. This should shorten it up just enough to put in an overhead gun rack.

Why do you have to carry the rifles in the cab. If the truck isn't street legal and it wil probably be trailered, couldn't you just mount a gun rack on the backside of the cab, in the bed?

Right or wrong, our laws in Kansas are perhaps a little more open...especially when hunting coyotes as they are considered a pest. You can shoot from a vehicle. Also, I prefer to keep the guns high and dry in the vehicle.
