Does anyone else have to use the gas pedal to assist starting their honda acty? My 91 acty usually starts up 5 out of 10 times. The other 5 times it will almost start, then die. The only way to start it then is to hold your foot to the floor and bring it up to about 2000rpm, then it will idle just fine. If you dont touch the gas, it will just turn over and turn over, with no sputter even! You have to hold the pedal to the floor. D-rock or misterturbo, or anyone else, do you have to use the gas pedal ever to assist starting? Wondering if it is just me or not? Thanks! -mark
While not a Honda, I do have to give mine just a touch of the pedal to start it cold. Mine starts every time.
Nope, my 2 Honda Acty have no trouble starting up from cold or hot anytime.. I use to have this problem with Suzuki trucks I had.. If I left them for a couple days without starting, the first crank would not start the car.. I would have to wait 30 sec, them restart.. You probably have a carb issue.. Perhaps you should clean the whole assembly?
Yes, i may have to clean the entire assembly, i will try next weekend. misterturbo, thou yours starts all the time, do you ever have to use the gas pedal to assist starting it or can you just turn the key and go(with no gas pedal assist)? Mine will start all the time too, it just sometimes i have to use the gas to coax it to life, sometimes its when its cold, and sometimes its when its hot. Never the same. Thats what has me confused. -mark
i never have to assist starting mine. I have a 95. Starts right up everytime. On first start it idles just a little fast for about a couple minutes then idles right back down. Almost like it needs to run for so long on first start.
