    Hey everyone.

    I need help again.

Lately my carry has been flooding its cylinders... or carb...... usedto run fine.... plugs are all covered in sooth...

Here's what ive done. I was suspecting i was running rich, checked plugs, were brownish, so i tought it was doing fine. A week earlier i resetted the valve lash and cleaned the carb...
When i cleaned the carb.. i opened it and just cleaned the inside... removed one of the jets and just returnd it back. There's no problem with the float or the needle (or so what i thought). Put back up the carb, adjusted the idle speed and everything were running fine.

Then last week, i replaced the plugs with bosch sparkplugs... then it started flooding.... in the mornings, it would start up and die.... by flooring the gas pedal i eventually could make it start again. Then all would be fine for the day... then suddenly... it would die while on the road. Also, I notice there's a power loss. It ain't running as good as it used to.. recently i checked the plugs and they were all covered in soot...

I changed the plugs aga:in thinking that the plugs werent the right one for the engine (f5a) with the recommnded ones per manual (ngk es5... cant really remember) However, it hasnt solved the problem... still the plugs are fouled, seem to be flooding the cylinders and now, it wouldn't even idle for 20 Seconds.

Could it be the carb... float needle not working fine? checked it a few hours ago an there weren't anything blocking the needle or the hole it's placed. it was seeting correctly, though im not sure if it's sealing good.

Been working on this for two days already and it,s seems to be just gettin

Are you sure that your choke is not stuck shut?if you can start it, make sure the choke cut-of open the choke plate
As soon as the motor start, then the rest of the opening wil be gradual as the thermo element warms up.
To check that, take of the air filter assembly.
If the choke is acting wird, force it open, and do a road test.
Is your floot level propely adjusted? Some time when we open the floot bowl, if we press on the floot,we bent
The adjustment tab (level to hy in the bowl, and overflowing in the intake)
Is the flot nedle seating propely? To check that, before reinstalling the carb,i hold it up side down, then using a cleen
Hoze i try to blow air in the bowl,no air should go throuw.then if you turn it around air wil go in.
You did a valve adjustment, are you sure you are in SPEC? Clerences are different if cold or warm.
Did you check your timing advance after your valves adjustment?
Good luck with your troble-shooting let us know your result.

Choke is not stuckshut... gradually opens as engine heats up. Valve lash is within specs and timing is right. I really suspect it's the needle... did blow air to the carb while needle is seating and I did feel air going trough it... perhaps I have to change the needle.

Hi everyone, there are many carb flooding issues here I have come across for the db51t engine. I just solved mine after much aggravation and wanted to let everyone know the cure. The newer fuel pumps and newer carbs do not take much fuel pressure. You need to restrict her fuel flow by inserting a restrictor into the fuel line. I used a 1/4 in grease fitting I cut and drilled and it worked perfectly. Car doesn’t flood anymore. Looks like the punp pushes the float open and floods the engine. Good luck I hope this helps, never found a solution across so many threads but this worked for me.
