Hey everyone. Grateful for this forum as it has answered a lot of questions I’ve had before I even had an account OR a kei truck. I just received my 1998 Subaru Sambar with 102,000km. Completely stock and in amazing condition. Things runs like a top. The ad said the ac doesn’t work but it turns out it only doesn’t work on the “3” fan setting. I’ve been eyeing these mini trucks for years. We recently moved to Oklahoma from Oregon and in doing so I bit the bullet and ordered one instead of buying one already in the states and paying nearly double. Ordered on 4/29/23 and received 7/29/23. I opted for the Sambar for a couple of reasons. First being engine location. Easy access in the back, quieter, and doesn’t hear the cab up. Second reason is people who have owned different make and model minis have said the Sambar has the most head room. I’m 6’2” so head room is nice. Leg room would be nice too but I won’t be too picky. Basically I’m going to keep this thing pretty stock other than paint, a new stereo, and maybe a slight bigger tire on the stock 12” rim. But I’m excited to get this thing registered and driving every day! thanks guys!
Welcome - importing is fun! I would buy direct from Japan every time. If nothing else you avoid a US dealer 'fixing' something without access to the right service materials.
