    Hello all,

I'm new to the mini truck world, picked up a 1992 Honda Acty cheap B/C it would not start. The PO replaced the Carb, distro cap, rotor, plugs, coil and electronics module. It was running fine till the PO ran thru a rain puddle then it ran rough then quit. I checked compression 125 in each cylinder, it has spark, fuel what am I missing?

    Thank you in advance.

Sounds like someone just threw parts/money at it expecting it to work. Very seldom does. Needs fuel in the proper amount & atomized right,
good spark at the right time, and decent compression to run. Compression seems good. You will have to go into diagnostic mode with the fuel and spark issues. Could even be something as simple as a wire connection not done properly.

I'd start with some starting fluid. Open throttle and spray some in. Try to start it. If it doesn't pop or do anything, check spark. If spark is good, then check timing.

Are the spark plugs wet from fuel or dry?
Where are you located in Northern Japan, we have some members here living in Japan, I am in Ibaraki Prefecture.

I was leaning toward timing, I did try the starting fluid throttle wide open, it almost wanted to start, however it did not. I'll check the timing. Got to go old school and a timing light.

    Thank you

I'll check the plugs tonight when I get home from work. I live in the Aomori Prefecture.

    Thank you

Yea, if it will almost start on starting fluid I'd try cranking with the throttle wide open also. If the popping seems consistent, but it won't run, timing may be the culprit. I had a car that sucked in water and it took awhile of wide open throttle cranking to get it to sputter and finally run. It wasn't happy at the start, but it smoothed out in a minute or so.

Edit:: also it's possible that that the previous owner got the firing order wrong so I'd double check that too. That will sometimes cause a consistent firing cyl but won't run.

Yes got it running today however the alternator is locked, looking at yahoo auctions tonight for one if not Honda dealer.
I took the top round cover off the carb removed the (here come the comments) round choke/barrel thing I don't know what it is called and spring there was gas in there. Cranked the engine and it started, let it run until it died then reinstalled the round thing and spring, started right up. Now to find an alternator, MAIH (more as it happens)

Thank you all for your support.

Welcome to the forums, and greetings from Shinshu.

I guess you'll score an alternator on the auctions, if not there's alternatives to going to the $tealership...

Why is is locked though...? Maybe just from sitting, if so maybe a little tough love is in order.

Hey thanks for the welcome! Tried the tough love via the impact wrench got it to move slightly, I think the bearing are fuked I Found a used one for $70 plus $40 shipping from within Japan might go that route. Or I'll rebuild it myself. More fun times.

Well I went to a local scrap/junk yard they had three alternators on the shelf, that were guaranteed to work so I got the alternator, a set of bed sides right and left (mine had the hinges rust out) and a cool set of 14" "Drag" brand wheels for ¥22000 about $220.00. So it is back on the road. Next to tackle the rust on the door corners.

    Cool beanz.

Just a thing, in case you don't know... to pass shaken you need "LT" 6-ply tires, technically. Some inspection centers may let it slide, most no. No problem really running something else otherwise. Summer sport kei rubber in the summer if you like, and throw the Blizzaks on when it's time for inspection.

Thank you! I asked around but no one seemed to have a clear answer, there are Goodyear snowies LT 6 ply on it now. I'll be putting on low profile 14" sneakers on for the summer.

I'll be putting on a small lift 40-50mm over the next few weeks.

Same here in Ibaraki Prefecture, they are very strict on this, last time when I went for shaken someone in front of me had this problem, he did not pass and had to come back with proper tires.
And that is probably good for road safety, sometimes the kei trucks are overloaded like hell, especially here where I live in the farming area.

    Hello everyone,

I work on a base and the other day I found in the trash a set of HKS coilovers shocks and springs the springs looked to be in good shape. So I drag them home disassembled them, pulled the front struts off Lil' blue mounted the HKS springs (They were the same size just had more ass to them). Lil' blue now sits 1.5 inches higher for free. So the "new" Drag 902 14x6J 38 offset wheels that I scored will have room to swing some bigger sneakers. I'm looking at putting 195/55R14 or maybe 165/55R14 and stretching them to give it a different stance. Fun times.

    Hello
    I have a 1997 Honda acty HA4 (A/C)
The truck is not starting , if I keep the gas pedal floored it starts after a few tries but it didn’t build up idle and boggs out , replaced the carb, distributor , spark plug and it’s still the same .
Anyone can point me to what might be going on , really appreciate any input
