Happy New Year folks! Last summer I wanted to take my Sambar on longer trips but wanted to be very careful about my engine RPMs and oil/engine temp, and since I'm a mechanical engineer and have my own seat of SolidWorks I figured I better fire it up and build something we all could enjoy. What you see here is the result of 6 months of testing. The Glass Filled Nylon 12 material easily withstood 110°F dashboard temps and the 3M Command Strip mounting is solid enough for every pothole I've encountered. While it's designed for a Sambar, this can also be mounted on a flat surface and can probably fit other Kei trucks/vehicles. How do you get one of these for yourself? Download the .STL files from this link - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5775743 Print them yourself or pay a service like Xometry to print them (mine was $260 w/ shipping). NOTE: If you use MJF, the bottom surface of the Mounting Foot(s) will need to be sanded to bare plastic or the 3M strip will not stick. Order some 2-5/8" gauges, I got mine custom from Speed Hut ($316 w/ accessories). Order the fasteners and other hardware from McMaster-Carr or wherever (details in the link). Cluster in situ, with "stoplight" color scheme. Plain housing, feet and the "grommet slide" Rat's Nest about to be buried Detail of the Mounting Feet Isometric View Exploded View
Thanks! It's oil temp so I got this sandwich plate and put it in series with the oil filter. It's close but everything fits. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SXGAZQ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00
That looks pretty cool.. If I hadnt already drilled holes into my A pillar for my gauges, I would have liked to do something like this.
