96 Sambar Van KV4, went on a small mission, came back home and it didn’t start. Was diagnosed as a bad Fuel Pump. Changed the fuel pump ran absolutely wonderful for a day. Then wouldn’t start again. Changed the fuel filter, still no spark. I can spark it with starting fluid, but then it will just die out. I’m sorry for beating a dead horse but I’m at wits end right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Test the battery and alternator at a parts store? Also could be the distributor. My friend's Subaru Baja just recently needed a new alternator and fuel pump at the same time, interestingly enough. And the air intake was clogged with leaves. Everything crapping out all at once. Edit: not the distributor, hang on, can't remember what the hell that thing is called... Edit 2: ignition coil. Make sure that thing is working.
Awesome, I will for sure cross those off my list. By the way the ignition coil is right there left of the engine correct, as soon as you drop the hatch?
Pretty sure it is, yes. I remember being able to see it mounted up there somewhere. I don't know how you'd test it though. One that I bought for a hijet a while ago came with a manual that described how to check the resistance between the terminals and the part where the distributor wire plugs into it, but I'm not sure where that is now. It was a commonly available one from O'Reilly's, not a specific Japanese parts store one, and it ended up working just fine.
Is this supercharged or carbed? Do you have voltage to the coil? What kind of fuel pump did you put in? OEM or some sort of aftermarket solution?
