Engine / motor swap?

Couldn't find anything Acty specific on engine / motor swaps. Should I just do what other model kei trucks have done like the Carry, Hijet, Sambar, etc. in other threads? If so maybe you could link me to some good ones?

I love my HA2 but I know eventually I would like to upgrade to something faster. Has anyone done this before, if so what engine did you/they switch to? I always thought of putting a Honda bike engine like this build.

I know nothing about engine swaps and I'm sure something of this size would not work. The ultimate goal is to keep the 4x4, locking diff, and fit under the stock bed. Honestly any engine where I could comfortably cruise at 75ish MPH / 120ish KPH that fits my goals would be good enough.

Thank you for your helpful advice and information, I appreciate your patience w/ my nonexistent knowledge on the subject.

Damn that is such a cool idea, thank you for sharing! One day we'll get there, luckily we both have plenty of time in the grand scheme of things.

  4. comfortably cruise at 75 with AWD Acty? Sounds frightening. Let me know if you pursue it.

I looked at what some of the honda Beat guys were doing. It's alittle more of a sports car and still uses the E07a engine. Though the intake manifold and trans accessories are diffrent its a good place to start. I always look at the brand new vehicles that share enough general size as acty. The Honda That's and Honda Today used the E07z and some had turbocharger installed. Keep your eyes out. The Honda love is strong and undoubtedly someone with break ground on a swap before too long.

I have done it on the highway with my stock 12" tires. I can not achieve that with my "show" Bassett Racing Wheels ( 15" ) and radial tires.

  7. I honestly think most of the issues is with the top gear in our transmission being so low. If we had a taller 5th gear highway would be way more comfortable. In the vw world we would swap a taller 5th gear from the TDi into the gas trans to give us that nice overdrive feel and let the other 4 gears be the around town gears.

The 5th gear works fine for me on my dirt trails that I live on, as well as the highways of Central Floriduh..

Generally our little trucks don’t have enough torque to actually rev out with taller tires. MotoCheez on YouTube installed an Aisan AMR300 supercharger originally designed for a Subaru on his Hijet. He has a whole series of videos on the project, and even shows you all the warts, and thrown belts, he went through getting it ironed out and working well. He has amazon links to most parts he used. He has a over a hundred vids on the mods he has done to his Hijet, and recently bought an Atrai, and has started a series on it.

I’m really interested in the Super charger install. Just need to decide if I’m willing to rid of the A/C to mount the supercharger, where the A/C compressor currently sets. Can’t see any other place where it will fit.

Here is the first vid of the supercharger install.

My Street does 75. But takes a while getting there, and it helps if it's downhill....
