Greetings everyone, I just bought a ‘93 Acty SDX 4wd. I am doing some general work on the truck (fluids change, etc.) and noticed what looks like 2 ribbed flex hoses going from forward of the muffler, then turning 45 degrees upward towards the underside of the bed. I can’t see anything after that. I was thinking of replacing the exhaust/muffler, but noticed these hoses and though I would find out what they are used for before removing them (maybe they are like the heater boxes in a type 1 VW air cooled engine). My Acty manual isn’t very helpful with their identification and purpose. Can anyone tell me what they are for? Can they be removed without loosing anything (like loosing heat if you removed the VW heater boxes/tubes)? Thanks in advance!
use the EPC with your chassis number and check in the drawings https://www.epc-data.com/ , here is for example a hot air pipe 17301-PN3-003 https://honda.epc-data.com/acty_truck/m-ha2/26939/electric/23602/?p=1&fromMap=1 Or do you mean the air intake tube? The air filter is at the rear left below the left taillight and from there the connection goes to the engine, check that.
They are for channeling warm air to the carb on cold day starts. So if you remove them it could affect how quickly it warms up on cold days. These trucks are very similar mechanically.
Thank you shogun and t_g_farrell for the great information. I really like my kei truck and I am glad that mini truck talk has members that are willing to help those of us who are new and learning. Again, thank you both for the response and have a safe Memorial Day weekend.
I wish some US acty parts reseller company would buy a pallet of new Acty mufflers. I want one and know many others who do but the shipping on just one from japan is killer.
I have but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet because I’m waiting to have a few things I need as the shipping price won’t get much higher with additional items. To really make it worth my while. https://buyee.jp/rakuten/detail/sanyoweb:10007049?conversionType=service_page_search I was going to go through buyee and get a new one and eat the few hundred buyee would charge to ship.
