Hey guy’s so I want to lower my ‘94 KS3 (2wd). Looking to see if anybody has any knowledge on how to do so or if there are any coilover suspension upgrades out there. Haven’t had luck finding anything online. Mahalo!
Any luck? I think I am gonna lower my 95 KS4 instead of lifting for better "road" use. Looking forward to see if it's possible with out cutting springs...
https://www.gorillaoffroadcompany.com/products/silverback-coilover-suspension-kei-subaru These are the only coilover's I know of for the Sambar, iI don't own or know anybody who has experience with them so I can't speak on their quality.
Yes, I seen these as an option BUT I suppose I can use these when the struts go bad. Would be IMO an option for "replacing" worn or broken shocks.
if you just want lowering springs best bet would probably be to visit a suspension / spring shop and see if they can match the size of stock springs but a bit shorter, or cut but i really don't recommend that considering how soft the stock springs are.
I found these while looking for springs a few weeks ago, https://www.ebay.com/itm/392524856791 GREDDY BL COMFORT DOWN SPRING FOR SUBARU SAMBAR KV4 14061315.
I bought some random BMW coil overs for my sambar. I am thinking I can have a moderately compatible coil over set for my shitbox for around 250 bucks.
Do those particular coil over units work on the fronts? Obviously the rear ones won't. What is your experience?
Oh they're going to work just fine. Plasma cutter and welder be damned. I'll have them installed this weekend. I'll get pictures of the ordeal uploaded.
I went the new OEM struts and greddy spring route. The lowering is very minor, it almost looks OEM but it's enough to make me happy. I ran into issues using some spring compressors, a lot of models are too large to work properly. They hit the strut and don't fit right. You need something pretty low profile to work right but outside of that was a super easy super fast job
These are the spring compressors I used https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0876QXWD2 note my wheels are actually smaller than stock. about 0.7" less in diameter
A You Tuber whose site did an episode lowering his 1994 truck search for Oh Kai Garage and look for his lowering episode might help.
Where did you find 11.3" wheels? Ive never seen wheels that were not made in whole inches. Or did you mean that the tires (and therefore overall diameter) are smaller?
I reordered I eventually got the rears installed; but I removed and put in a random extended spring and shock. I am currently working on a set of air bags for the back. I'll have them plumbed into my onboard air tanks. I have been dealing with axle issues and am just making my own right now. The inner joint doesn't have enough articulation so I bought a off-road style high angle cv that in cutting to length. I cut and welded a standard style cv but it wasn't strong enough it actually sheared the bearing surface somehow.. once that's all said and done I'll wait for my tire tread to wear down and go up to a 205 or 215.
