Carb Swap

With the nonexistent availability of parts for my carb, I was wondering if anyone knew of a carb that could be swapped out with better maintenance support?

I can imagine you are taking on a huge effort to do this. A Kawasaki KLR650 CVK40 carb is a place to start (~$120), but your will lose several conveniencies and will have to run a choke cable to the cabin. There is lots of part support and help rejetting it because the KLR has been in production for 32 years and just got EFI for 2022.

What is troubling your OEM carb? Since it is a carburetor, you do run only ethanol-free fuel, don't you? Ethanol oxidizes pretty quickly in carbs since the float bowls are open to the atmosphere. I was able to clean up my last carburetted motorcycle by filling the bowls with Seafoam and letting it soak several hours, then, turning on the fuel and nursing it until all of the seafoam was pushed out of the carbs. It would run on Seafoam.

I don't even own a Acty yet but am on the hunt for carb swap options. I was looking into Holly's Efi sniper system. They have a autolight 1100 replacement kit. It's a small bore size and with an even smaller injector and a conversion plate I believe it could be magic. Not for the feignt of heart or tiny checkbook but simpler than a beat or later acty full engine swap.

  5. What nonexistent parts are you looking for? I cant imagine the headaches of running an aftermarket carb setup on these.

I just bought both solenoids and the gasket kit from amayama. All genuine Honda parts, too. No such thing as nonexistent, just keep looking mate.
