Hey guys having an issue with my 95 carry where when I step on the brake pedal the radio shuts off and the hight beam indicator light comes on on the dash. Thinking it’s a grounding issue maybe?

New radio just got installed maybe? Check your fuses, I suspect one is blown somewhere.

Yes actually I did just put a radio in, I didn’t think to check the fuses because the radio comes back on after I release the brake I would figure if it was a blown fuse something would be complety powered off and not come back on

If you used t he ground from the wiring harness, thats a switched ground that becomes hot when the lights are turned on and will make the radio turn off. Been there done that. Just ground the radio to the chassis somewhere. Ihave a thread with details of how it goes wrong and how I resolved it.

So I just ran out to napa and got some fuses because one was blown like you had said. I played around with the wiring a bit and found that when a capped the ground wire (red/yellow) in the original suzuki harness and capped the head unit ground so neither of them are connected to anything the issue is no longer present. Headlights come on and don’t blow the fuse, radio works great without shutting off. All is well. Thank you for your help!

Yeah, so the radio chassis is getting grounded to the mounts for the radio. Sounds like you got it sorted!

I ran into this issue installing my new deck. Since my van came with only am with built in speaker, i struggled blowing fuses until i figured it out.
