Since I couldn't find any solid information on part numbers or spline count for this on here, i'm making this post for anyone that is interested in putting an aftermarket steering wheel into their 90-98 sambar. This is what I found to work as the column had a 36 spline count.

Note: this does not work with GRANT steering wheels as they seem to have a specific 5 point hub setup at least not without some slight modification.

The last picture outlines that as I had a 12" grant steering wheel that I made work as a temporary solution that was going to be use, however I went with a momo instead and will be replacing this one once the momo arrives.

This hub works with Momo, Sparco, Nardi wheels and am unsure on other brands.

    Hub came from https://rzcrewgarage.com/products/hkb-boss-kit-steering-wheel-hub-os-108

I'd like to replace mine with one that has an airbag. I'll probably still die due to the entire vehicle being crushed like a tin can but it'd be nice to have SOMETHING besides the seat belt protecting me.

Thanks for the info Can you also tell us how you removed the steering wheel? How did you remove the large horn cover?

The large horn cover is held on by 2 pressed clips on the underside of the wheel, push those forward towards the dash and lift up.

Steering wheel nut is a 17mm if I remember correctly. Loosen it so its almost off the thread and then grab the steering wheel and give it some big tugs towards you (It may be on there really tightly). Once it loosens from the spline you can remove the nut all the way and slide the wheel off.

One other trick for pulling steering wheels is to hit the rim of the wheel pretty firmly with the edge of your hand, almost a punch, all around. This loosens up the spline and lets you pull it off a lot easier. Here's a quick video showing it-

I have a 1994 Carry and cannot find those clips to pull off the horn cover. Pics? Plan B? Help!

does it look like this, if so on each side underneath the steering wheel you should feel some indentations push in on the tabs and pry up IMG_0655.jpg
there under the cross pieces of the wheel

Hi there, the clips cannot be seen or accessed because they are under the cover. What I ended up doing is taking a small pry bar and slowly lifting it straight up until it broke free.

    Hello,

I am new to the trucks in general, is there an option with an airbag that I am not seeing? Also interested in some safety where I can have it. Thanks!

I'd guess the newer trucks have airbags but you'd need the entire system for it to work. Wiring harness, airbag computer, impact sensors etc..

Yep, there is a lot more than the steering wheel or what can be seen in an airbag system. Just keep in your mind that if you have an accident, you will be the first one to arrive at the point of impact and drive accordingly.
