Does anyone know what year they stopped using drum brakes and went to disc brakes?

I think front discs were available on the S60 as an option. I think the front discs became standard with the S110.

Can you change the drums for discs? Do the make kits you can change from one to the other?

Not certain. I’ve never torn into an S82 or 83.
The easiest approach would probably be to swap in the entire front differential support, along with the

I am very interested in this topic as my 1991 S82P has all drums. Not that I hate the drums they actually function quite well, but rotors would be a nice modernization for sure in the future.

It would be a great upgrade, but the problem I had was to find the easy replaceable solution,
Without doing what Jigs suggested, replacing, the front Diff. along with accompanying parts which I really wasn't gonna get into at this time,
    with all my brakes working.etc.............
It would be different if someone came up with an easy conversion kit, but due to the limited production numbers,
    I don't see it happening.

Although I do agree with this, what if you had a truck that didn't have a front differential I'm gonna dig into mine and see what can be done at some point.

Yeah my drums work very well too. But having to replace the whole front end. Just to have disc brakes seems way too expensive period. Parts need to be less pricey. Thanks for your insite Guys.

Indeed you may be able to give G&R imports a call but other than them you would need to source stuff from buyee or yahoo auction japan then proceed to pay out the ass for shipping...

Yeah the shipping is insane. For example of that is I need my seats reupholsteredand for two seats and head rest costs $800. Now for new seats I could get for $150. But the the shipping is $650. Sorry to get off of subject

No I totally agree... Best bet is find someone in Japan that can ship the items to you after getting them shipped to their home.
